Well yes, I was being Captain Obvious, but that’s exactly where I was going with that. There was a time when their views weren’t so very different from ours. If it can happen there, it could theoretically happen here too. It’s not like there’s magical freedom juice in the water over here that makes us immune from falling under some seriously repressive form of government.
I’d say we’re often guilty of taking what we’ve had here for granted. Peace, prosperity, freedom. It wasn’t earned, it’s not the natural state of things, it isn’t our divine birthright. It was built up, by people before us. A lot of hard work and sacrifice. That we just might piss away.

When does it stop? Never. If they get their way, they’ll be for banning pointy knives, prosecuting people for defending themselves, and so on.
