Looting
Looks like looting started in New Orleans yesterday. Abysmal state of human nature, I suppose. While Insty advocates ownership of crank powered radios, I’ll advocate ownership of any one of these:
And for you non-AR fans, try one of these:

Heh. A buddy of mine showed me his “go” bag. It had your regular assortment of MREs, flashlights, water, first aid kit, crank radio, and the like.
He asked me about my bag. While I do have one, I couldn’t resist joking around and said something like, “Well, the most important thing is a gun. I figure that way if there’s anything else I need I can just come over here and get it.”

Ah, yes, for a few fleeting moments, we are not considered paranoid crazy wackjobs.

Uncle that WASR looks quite mean. Do you mind if asked what the total cost was?

It got the gun cheap off a board at ar15.com in the original configuration for $250 ($290 with shipping, taxes, nics and all). You can get them at Guns and More on Kingston Pike for about $350.
I then bought this stock from Tapco for $49. Looks like they went up in price, though.
Then I bought the UltiMAK Optics mount for $95 + shipping.
And I got the tacpoint from a guy on ar15.com for $90 (he was local and we traded face to face).
I figure total cost for me was about $550ish. $450ish without the optic. It was a piecemeal project. If you go to guns and more, add about $100.
Everything is for sell, I’ll sell mine just so I can build another. Building is half the fun 🙂
Also, I’ve since discovered that I can build AKs for about $200. Got a kit and still trying to figure out how to bend the flat.

That’s cool. If you ever choose to sell any, keep me in mind.

That’s some impressive firepower, Unc. But I just gotta go with the classics:
Can’t go wrong with a 12 gauge, take yer pick or the ever-popular 1911.
