Five indications you might be a narcissist
It’s all about me.
You should have seen me you should have been there.
The six degrees of me.
There is no us in me.
“I’ve had people who don’t know me say the worst things about me simply because I am trying to do something I believe is the right thing to do with a certain story.”
Let’s all sing the Narcissist song.
So know this about me:
1. I am (almost) fearless
2. I am not always right, but I always try to do what’s right
3. Above all else, the lyrics to this Tom Petty song applies very much to me:
Well I won’t back down, no I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
Gonna stand my ground, won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won’t back down
Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won’t back down.
Well I know what’s right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
But I’ll stand my ground and I won’t back down
Hey baby there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down

“You probably think this song is about you, don’t you? Don’t you?”…

Diagnosis confirmed: “As the Beatles grew as a group and as individuals, I tried to keep up with their growth. When they came out with “The White Album,” Paul had a song on there called “Blackbird,” which I was convinced he wrote for me.”

Is it necessary to mock a person who made themselves vulnerable?
December 9th, 2005 at 1:26 pm
Katherine,
You are entitled to your opinion but your premise is incorrect. There is a difference between observing and mocking. Up until the point Sharon decided to try and get someone fired from their job because they had a different opinion I read Sharon’s writing. I did not agree with her views but I considered them. I still read what Sharon writes, more as curiosity because she has lost any remaining credibility.
When a “journalist” tries to censor a private citizen and also cost them their job there should not be any surprise that people will carefully read what she has written. I don’t think Sharon’s writing is exposing her vulnerability as much as it is plain old self-importance. Can you find any blogger that uses the word “me” more often?
Sharon is a shameless self-promoter cut from the cloth of Michael Moore. After watching her TennCare video I saw Michael Moore’s name in the credits. I would be curious to know if that was a tribute or whether Michael Moore actually consulted on Sharon’s TennCare video. I felt her video was more work of fiction than a documentary. It was slanted, biased, and misleading. It had no context to the reality of what TennCare is, how it came to be, and what can be done to fix it.
Katherine, you wrote on your blog, “When people are sitting around in a bar and arguing over opinions that’s one thing, and that’s what we’ve got in blogland on a daily basis. But when someone is quite obviously crying and you kick them, that’s bullying. It doesn’t say much about the victim, but it says a whole lot about the jerk doing the kicking.”
You accuse me of kicking and bullying Sharon when she is crying? Let me tell you what I think kicking someone is, kicking someone is trying to get them fired from their job and slandering them while you censor them. Pot, kettle, I am sure you remember the story.
I was not aware that a seasoned journalist like Sharon was so sensitive. It just seemed to me to be an obsession and that the Hitman was her White Whale, kind of like Governor Bredesen is her White Whale. Like many people I am still waiting for the BIG story to break. I have asked Sharon several times why this is a BIG story but Sharon will not reply. If you have an opinion on why this is a BIG story I would like to hear it.
When it comes to censorship and trying to get people fired because they have a different opinion I remind people that this cannot be tolerated. That does not make me a “jerk”. I take freedom and personal rights seriously.
I am a co-blogger here and my views are my own and not necessarily those of Say Uncle. Just so we are clear on that.
By the way, I think Michael Moore is a big time narcissist also. Does that mean I am mocking him?

After reading the posts, I gotta side with sayuncle on this one. If she was describing the pain of losing a loved one, or some other personal tragedy, then by all means, it’s shitty to slam someone. I haven’t seen that. She started this crusade, leaving herself open to cross examination. I also think it’s a pretty shitty thing to do to try to get someone fired over blogging. If she had proof that the Hitman was spinning for the governor, fine, post it and expose him. She doesn’t. The fact that she’s spreading accusations that he is spinning for the governor is sloppy journalism. No one cares about sloppy journalism if you’re just some hack with a blog, but that’s not the case when you’re a seasoned, well-respected, internationally beloved journalist, and you bring the MSM into your witch hunt posse.

Look, I think that all the criticism of the Hitman post is fair, above-board and in many cases called for. I personally think she jumped the gun a bit by saying she was “investigating the story.” To my mind there isn’t a story until there is a story. With regard to the film, my understanding is that Michael Moore consulted on it and will be using portions of it in his film “Sicko”. I hate everything Michael Moore does, and Sharon knows that. We manage to be friends inspite of that, and in spite of her ships-that-pass relationship with Moore (whom I presume to be taking advantage of her, but that’s because I think he’s generally a self-centered user of people.)
But you did pick up and link her Lennon post, #9. That’s the post where she talks about being sexually abused, emotionally abused and abandoned. She talks about the very necessary connection she forged with the Beatles to overcome the nightmare of her abuse.
That’s where it crossed the line in this post as far as I was concerned. I could very well be wrong. It just struck me as extremely poor taste. That was the “kicking”.

To clarify, this post wasn’t by me but by #9 (we have multiple bloggers here and under the title it says Posted by AUTHOR). I don’t have a dog in this particular fight other than my dissatisfaction at outing anonymous bloggers.

Isn’t that the same opinion Charley Manson had about the White Album?

Clearly, the 60s were an interesting time…

[…] Second, I don’t have dog in this #9 (a co-blogger here) v. Sharon Cobb thing. Sure, I take issue with Sharon trying to out a anonymous blogger and I take issue that, in the middle of that, she does a teaser post that’s about John Lennon. But that’s the extent of any issues I have with Sharon. […]

Katherine got me to read the post about Lennon more closely. I must admit I skimmed it pretty quickly, as I can’t stand the Beatles. That is an awful story.
That said. It is one small paragraph in an absolute mountain of writing, and it doesn’t excuse the bulk of the criticism cited here, which primarily pertains to the Hitman saga.

[…] She sends me these requests because troublemaker #9 posted some less than flattering things about her, which in that email even I said to her I thought they were a bit much. Now, she’s demanding we correct assertions we never made. As Les put it in comments: Your correction takes the form of making corrections to mistakes that weren’t made. […]
