Mission Creep
Drug laws, particularly meth laws, are making their way into the PATRIOT Act:
A conference report by Senate and House negotiators to extend for four years provisions of the USA Patriot Act includes a comprehensive anti-methamphetamine package restricting the sale of products containing ingredients needed to cook the drug and providing new tools to police and prosecutors to combat dealers.

A shell-shocked congress passed the original law, with the sunset, shortly after 9/11. This time there has been some actual debate on the blatantly unconstitutional provisions, so it might not have gotten enough votes. But if you add the Meth stuff in, then any critter that is not 100% for this law is now automatically soft on those people who want to hook our little kids on drugs (just think of the children!!!1!!one!)

I predict the PREPETUAL PATRIOT Act will pass.

Between this and the anti-meth stuff, mission creep is outweighing the positives of the act. […]
