ATF to investigate Bloomberg stings
Yeah, we seem to be all Bloomberg all the time here today but this is important. David Hardy:
ATF has said they will be investigating every aspect of these “sting” sales (and there were ATF people present who repeated that). This may be bad news for the city, since IF the sales were illegal straw sales, their investigators committed felonies.
One gun was traced TWICE in NYC. The first time was for a crime, so it would have to have been confiscated. Only explanation for how it would later be on the street is that someone in NYC PD is selling seized guns on the street.
Via Jed, who says:
Of course, under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t wish the ATF on anyone, but for these sorts of anti-freedom operatives, I think it only right they get a dose of their own medicine, and in spades.

Given that the ATFU and the NYC Mayors office both hate gun owners and want to make war on private citizens, I doubt this is going to go anywhere. They are natural allies and both corrupt to the core. They aren’t going to attack each other.

“…NYC PD is selling seized guns on the street.”
Can you say, “DUUUUHHHH!”?

I feel like a farmer watching the wolves attack the coyotes.
The ATF is full of anti-gunners, but not so much as it is full of power hungry politicians. A major overture to gun owners might be useful at a time when congress is reconsidering the proper extent of the ATF’s mandate.

You’d be surprised how little a threat ATF represents to LAWFUL gun ownership, and how GREAT a threat the NYC PD threatens all who lawfully possess firearms.
ATF has it’s hands full enforcing existing firearms laws, and doesn’t need more work to do. Also most ATF Agents, believe it or not, are avid gun owners themselves whether using firearms for hunting, target shooting or personal protection.
It’s the City of New York and it’s 40,000 man army of cops who want new restrictions. And trust me when I tell you the Mayor of the City of New York is ALMOST as powerful a position as the President of the USA

Mike, I generally concur (even as a lawful gun owner who was paid a visit by them – they were following a lead). But there are a few that give the rest a bad name. Just like other cops, the 0.001% who are bad apples kinda ruin it for the other 99.999%

[…] First, the only evidence I’ve seen indicating anyone broke the law was that Bloomberg’s investigators lied on ATF Form 4473, which is a felony. As such, I don’t think it’s a double standard. I think it’s damage control. As mentioned before: ATF has said they will be investigating every aspect of these “sting” sales (and there were ATF people present who repeated that). This may be bad news for the city, since IF the sales were illegal straw sales, their investigators committed felonies. […]
