Smoking Update
Since some readers (including one who is going through the same thing) have asked:
No smoking since Monday morning at roughly 6:30a.m. Kind of jittery, chewing lots of gum and eating the shit out of candy and, well, anything else I can get my hands on. If I start turning into a fat ass, maybe smoking isn’t so bad. Kind of a toss up in terms of what’s worse for you, I suppose.
Also, I’ve made it this far and not killed anyone. It’s a good thing.

Remember, fasting will help things go, um, faster. No kidding. It’s harder, but for a shorter duration.

Smoking is definitely worse for you that being fat. Besides, you can lose the weight after you’ve kicked the habit.

Maybe you’ll need to change your handle from SayUncle to SayWhen. 🙂

You could try playing video games and become addicted to those.

I’ve always subscribed to the maxim that “Quitters never win and winners never quit.” 😉

The negative aspects of a candy bar can be eradicated in relatively no time by a tweak in one’s activities/diet. The negative aspects of a cigarette’s damage can never be eradicated.
Now, multiply that by X and you’ll see the vast difference eating candy is versus smoking. Take it from someone who was born with a bum set of lungs: take care of ’em, buddy. You can go play a round of golf or shoot some hoops and it’ll help with the weight thing. Smoking KEEPS you from being able to shoot hoops or play golf.
