Bloomberg at it again

Not only does Bloomberg conduct illegal stings on gun dealers, he’s cracking down on sparkler smuggling:

. . . the NYPD is now dispatching undercover cops into Pennsylvania to stake out firework vendors, as New York magazine recently reported. When they see a NY license plate, they snap a photo and prepare for the bust back home.

So far, the NYPD claims more than 60 arrests and a record number of seizures, more than 1,000 cases of fireworks. They’re even seizing cars now, at least 30 so far. What’s really ridiculous (and outrageous) is when you look at what is legal in Pennsylvania, these folks are losing their cars for stuff like fountains and spinners.

Welcome to New York, where there’s nothing the state won’t butt in to.

And… it’s run by a bunch of real estate developers.

I used to like Bloomberg, but between this, and his campaign to raise the alarm that life as we know it would cease to exist if the state legislature passed a law to prohibit eminent domain abuse – he’s revealed himself to be a first class jackass.

Hey, cops around here do the same thing on Indian reservations. Only difference is they don’t have to actually leave the state.

Police from the People’s Republic of Massachusetts do that here as well. Though stores that sell fireworks have started fighting back by evicting them from their parking lots and calling the local police for trespassing.

None of it does much good since they’ll sit in a parking lot across the street or close by and still try it, but I have freinds that have figured out dodges like going up with 2 cars and one goes to the store and another goes to a restraunt up the road. They then meet at the restraunt and the fireworks are moved to the unmonitored vehicle, then they go home. I guess the police are really angry when they find nothing when they stop the car.

I kinda find it humorous that the fireworks smuggling is getting to the level of this type of law enforcement.

It was always my understanding from my time in New England that Massachussets started this type of practice to keep people from buying booze tax free in New Hampshire. From what I recall, they would sit in the parking lots and keep track of all the cars with Massachusets plates and then compare that list with state income tax returns too see who actually reported tax free purcahses of booze. Apparantly, if there were more than a few visits and no reporting, it prompted an audit or something.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
