Target audience
I noticed the Brady Campaign is showing up in my Google ads. Thought it was ironic. They are outraged, ya know. But they’re buying me guns, $0.10 at a time.

that, and from their point of view they may as well just throw the money in the fire, given your audience. Actually the irony is much better, you’re right. I wish the Brady Campaign would buy me some guns. Hah!

You need to be sure to send them a pic of your next weapon of mass destruction, along with a nice thank you note.

Heh. I usually click on that add every time I see it on any blog site that is pro-gun.
It’s just so ironic. I have never had confirmation that the people getting the money use it for guns, but I hope that they’ll at least do it for some ammo.

Too bad the two commenters above me beat me to it, but I’m giving you a dime or two as well.
This from a guy not necessarily a ‘gun nut,’ which I say in a friendly way, but from somebody who simply owns a 12 gauge shotgun for bird hunting, and a .22 for target shooting.

Fascinating thread …
1. I’m not sure I agree their money is wasted. I’m betting there are more than a few anti-gun nuts who end up on your blog (guessing your e-mail/feedback would confirm this). That’s probably the audience the Brady ads really are targeting, and this would give them a chance to find it.
2. While several commenters boast about gaming the Google ad system by clicking on the Brady ads and making you money, one basically says he’s stealing from you by viewing your content without viewing the ads, in effect, refusing to help you offset the cost of hosting, etc. Content’s gotta be free!
3. And the ultimate irony, as you already pointed out, that at the end of the day the Brady ads are helping you feed your gun habit.
Just more reasons to love the Internet …

[…] A while back, I found it amusing that The Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Ownership was showing up in my Google ads. I noticed their ad text said Sensible Gun Laws. So, I Googled up sensible gun laws and the first hit was for the pro-gun Doctors For Sensible Gun Laws. Number 2 is The Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Ownership. Seems The Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Ownership maybe trying to their misleading Google on. […]
