Senators Gone Stupid
Having apparently solved all of Tennessee’s problems, Senator Doug Jackson wants to heavily fine stations that show commercials featuring 18 year-old chicks making out with other 18 year-old chicks. These commercials only come on at 11:30p.m. on Comedy Central, I know because that’s where I see them. That’s great. Let’s assail free speech because a couple of young blond hotties showing their tits with little computer-generated purple stars covering the nipples got Jackson’s temperature up. This bit is kinda funny:
Dickson Senator Doug Jackson said he got the idea after seeing commercials for “Girls Gone Wild” videos that show young women baring their breasts and acting out other sexual situations.
Let’s ban senators from watching TeeVee. Which is more offensive:

Pitiful. Jackson sound be made to stay after school and write a 2000 word essay on the Constitution and the First Amendment.
Yes, his Television privileges should be revoked for at least six weeks. Also his computer games should be taken away.

Thanks for the pic.
You should be sure to forward it to the senator.
I have always thought that GGW editions make great stocking stuffers, along with high cap mags.k

Christ.
It’s a PAY CHANNEL. PAY PAY PAY. Receiving those images are part and parcel of an OPTIONAL service, and FCC should have little to NO JURISDICTION.
If it’s a freely available network, sure, use the “radio rules” and keep stuff off that parents don’t want their kids seeing. But a PAY service? The recourse is to stop paying, folks.

You know what upsets me more? The ethics of our Tennessee Representatives. Now there is an sudden attack of morality Senator Jackson? This is like when the Knox county Commissioners sued to invalidate the Charter so they would not be term limited. They said they were seeking “clarification”. Now they get to choose their replacements.
I am over the moral outrage Senator Jackson. Get your own house in order before you get all moral with the rest of the public.
Where was Senator Jackson’s moral outrage over the conduct of our elected representatives? I guess the glass was only half full.

You know what they say: Democrats are afraid of their greed; Republicans are afraid of their lust. That’s why they legislate against them.

Cute girls shown on cable TV pose no threat to my Liberty. Senators, on the other hand, must be kept in their place– preferably under lock and key.

Well, he should stay up later, till the Boy’s Gone Wild commercial comes on. That’s probably something he could get behind.
I exercised my constitutional rights and changed the channel. The commercial may not have been as productive as the Girls Gone Wild concept as I haven’t seen itl in quite awhile. Or I may have just stopped saying up so late.

[…] You’ll recall that some senator from our fair state wants to infringe on the first amendment (rather than let people exercise their right to change the channel) by fining TeeVee stations that air those girls gone wild commercials. Well, now this guy is getting some national attention for the same reason Tennessee usually gets national attention: Because someone is being stupid. Terry Frank says that: I much prefer a State Senator getting national coverage for drawing attention to a worthy debate on obscenity instead of the ability of Tennesseans to eat road kill. […]
