Wendy’s is using a Violent Femmes song about getting high and masturbating to pimp their food. I saw that commercial last night and also thought: man, even the alternative songs from when I was a kid aren’t safe from commercialization these days.

It was hearing a Ramones song (“Blitzkrieg Bop”) in a car ad for me. I thought, “Damn, only took three of the original four dying to get access to the rights.” And I’ve heard a Buzzcocks song just last month! F*cking Buzzcocks! You can’t even say their name on network TV anymore but their music has finally entered the mainstream. Strange trade-off.
