Guns in state buildings
In a surprise move, a House panel voted today to repeal a state law that forbids the carrying of handguns on property and buildings owned by state, county and city governments — including parks and playgrounds.
“I think the recent Virginia disaster — or catastrophe or nightmare or whatever you want to call it — has woken up a lot of people to the need for having guns available to law-abiding citizens,” said Rep. Frank Niceley, R-Strawberry Plains. “I hope that is what this vote reflects.”

Naifeh’s going to stick himself in this somewhere to stop this before it can make it to the full body. I’m surprised it got out of committee after it was amended. Of course, it didn’t come out of Constitutional Protections which is where Naifeh normally sends this stuff to die.

Good news! I understand that when a bill makes it out of committee, doesn’t it go to the full House?
The Constitutional Protections Committee is indeed the sub-committee of the Judiciary Committee where pro-armed slef defense bills have a history of being “shot down” so they can’t be voted on by the full House where they would likely pass. One last year which would have allowed gun permit holders to carry in restaurants that serve alcohol, had 62 co-sponsors in the House, yet was voted down 3-2 in that committee.

[…] Hungry bears are not to be trifled with. Of course, packing in parks is illegal but that’s looking to change. […]
