All AK-47 All The Time!!!!
Seems the Florida news folks having an AK-47 marathon. And, seriously, their gun expert doesn’t know how to use a barrel shroud err hand guard? See the pic there.
But not so fast. Seems most of the weapons in use may be SKS rifles, which (like the MAK-90) were actually not covered by the ban on weapons that look like assault weapons. As I said, if you can get an AK for $200, I’ll take all you got.
And if these spray-firing bullet hoses serve no purpose other than killing as many people in a short amount of time, why are the police getting them?

A while ago, I read that a police department had picked up an M249 (SAW).
I found this odd because the defined purpose of the SAW (paraphrasing) is “crowd suppression and indiscriminate fire” or something like that. Basically, it is designed to put a bunch of lead downrange, at people. But it is important to note that the weapon description specifically mentions that it is intended for less than accurate targeting of each round. (Or something like that.)
Enter the conflict – under what circumstances would a police department need a tool that could cause indiscriminate destruction like that? When would they need a weapon for ‘crowd suppression’?
I can appreciate (and fully support) the need for 3 round burst. But fully auto? No f-ing way. Not in the hands of a civilian officer to be used in an urban environment. Period.

I’ve fired the SAW. It’s a baby M-60, not appropriate for police use. It actually is a spray firing bullet hose.

Thanks for the ‘Unc-a-alanche’ at Traction Control!
The story kept popping up on CBS until I thought my head would explode from the dangling nonsensicals.
Anyway, I score it Bloggers: 5 (Sailor Curt, Snowflakes, Uncle, Traction Control, ProGunProgressive), CBS: 0.
CBS: Busted Again.
