Important Bit From McCain’s Speech

I opposed the ban on so-called “assault weapons,” which was first proposed after a California schoolyard shooting. It makes no sense to ban a class of firearms based on cosmetic features.
I’ve had my disagreements with McCain but of those running for president, he’s the only one to say that. Hell, he’s one of the only Republican contenders to say that.
Of course, it’s also important to note that he buys the gun show loophole nonsense only he doesn’t call it a loophole. And it looks like he’s sticking with his support McCain-Feingold, which he’s reportedly violated.

Ya know, to close the gun show “loophole”, they’re gonna have to require all private gun sales to go into NICS.

The queasy feeling i have is what he isn’t saying. For example, “i believe we should ban guns for their function, not their looks”

As I noted on Sebastian’s blog, the odds of Congress repealing McCain-Feingold are slim to none, and the odds of President Obama appointing a judge who will vote to overturn it are even more remote. So ironically, so the only way we’re going to get rid of that dreadful law is to elect the guy who sponsored it.

What I could mean but don’t dare say: “We should ban ’em all.”
“Clintonesque” comes to mind.
Did MaCain say he would doggedly support lifting any existing restrictions? Do I have to ask?

McCain is even more of a threat than the honest ones like Obama and Hillary. Fighting the results of McCain is going to be harder as Chris and them won’t be expecting it…..

Haha, to think that most people are in such fear of a government that cannot stop tens of thousands of murders from happening every year, an entire metropolis submerged with little relief, a war where over a billion dollars are spent every day and yet illiterate rag-heads resit for over 4 years…my my my. you Tories shouldn’t be so worried about offending a government who can’t help you, but offending your neighbors who suspect you of being a turn coat spy. your countrymen are all around you – the .gov is all the way in DC or hiding in their buildings plotting the next attack to instill fear in the hearts of patriots.
There are few of them, and many of us. We are your neighbors, teachers, employers, coaches, grocers, and barkeeps. What’s your choice – Us or them.

The test for McCain’s sincerity is if he ever gives this 2A snippet an airing in front of anyone but gunnies. I’m betting no.
Don’t dismiss these “Truthers” like HardCorps so easily. When the S.H.T.F., they will be in your militia, and you either will have made your peace with them or you will face TWO enemies, one in front and one behind you.

I just get frustrated sometimes trying to convey what I see the situation as to others. If people won’t even support freedom on a gun blog, and they cheer for this piece of shit and disarm at their own gun convention – I can’t see they wouldn’t mind inviting the man in their house to take all their guns or get on the train to be ‘relocated.’ This is going to get real guys really soon, and there’s no stopping this confrontation. So now that you know it’s coming, are you going to get ready or are you going to procrastinate and be an easy target?

xlrq, McCain-Feingold has been overturned already. Read Wisconsin Right to Life vs FEC and you will see that they “upheld” it in way that technically agrees with with McConnell but cut an exception out of it that renders it meaningless.
So far, every indication is that McCain will be picking judges the same way Bush did- with help from the Federalist Society. He isn’t a legal genius, he is a politician, so he will turn to people who are legal experts for advice.
