In fast and furious news

Merry contempt vote eve!

It must be big news, after being ignored for so long because CBS has a page set up just for F&F news. And so does the House Oversight Committee.

Fast and furious was to push gun control:

We have email from people involved in this that are talking about using what they’re finding here to support the — basically assault weapons — ban or greater reporting.

Americans oppose executive privilege in F&F.

Because it means that either Obama knew or is blocking an investigation.

Holder avoids questions on the issue.

Speculation on Hillary’s involvement.

The contempt vote isn’t the right thing to do, it just shows the power of the gun lobby. Or something.

This is either satire of MSNBC talking points or LZ is fool.

Hope and change

Another historic first for this administration: . . . it will be the first time in history that a U.S. attorney general is held in contempt of Congress.

Fast and Furious Stuff

Issa says it was likely a push for gun control:

Two things quickly. First of all, this was so flawed that you can’t believe they expected to actually get criminal prosecutions as a result of it. So the level of flaw — flaw — flaw, if that’s a word, here is huge.

But here’s the real answer as to gun control. We have e-mail from people involved in this that are talking about using what they’re finding here to support the — basically assault weapons ban or greater reporting.

Maddow begs press to stop covering the issue.

Some rube pens piece concluding what the administration wanted him to. Also, yup, they’re out to get you gun nuts. Hundreds of dead Mexicans and it’s just a witch hunt.

ATF leader’s email could be smoking gun. That would be like the 2,001st smoking gun. Oh and Holder said Obama can’t shield that.

The HuffPo has a piece on Brian Terry.

Hillary Clinton deep in it?

Brady Campaign gets its stupid on. Or it thinks you’re stupid.

Fast and furious speculation

It’s a good question. Holder is the only hill Obama has chosen to make a stand on. All the others went under the bus so fast they had to hire more bus drivers. So, why this hill?

Getting furious

Chris Cox says Americans should get furious and call their representative:

Attorney General Eric Holder’s continued refusal to turn over “Fast and Furious” documents to House investigators — even in the face of being held in contempt by Congress — is another symptom of the disease of lawlessness that has been rotting our republic ever since President Barack Obama took office.

What fast and furious was all about

Just a reminder why they let hundreds of Mexicans die:

Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using their covert operation “Fast and Furious” to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.

Pelosi is an idiot

That’s not news but her claims that Eric Holder’s contempt vote was about voter suppression is borderline insane.

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence . . .

Having admitted to two false statements to Congress, Holder is working on number 3.

In fast and furious news

It finally took executive privilege to get the press to pay attention to hundreds of dead Mexicans.

Front and center

Dog bites man: Sharpton says contempt vote is racist. I guess he doesn’t care about dead brown-skinned people.

… when Carney said that Obama’s decision to assert executive privilege over documents subpoenaed by Congress was “entirely about principle,” reporters openly laughed.

White House forgets Brian Terry’s name. Way to be respectful.

Eric Holder should be in jail

Coincidence?

Another wrong house raid by ATF

Handcuff a woman and point guns at her son. Happens often enough you’d think they’d check addresses.

Quote of the Day

Michael Bane on Holder and executive privilege: Now We Know . . . just how high in the government Fast & Furious went.

Yup.

Faster and furiouser

More stuff from Eric Holder’s really bad day.

Holder lied to congress, CBS has the proof. Yes, CBS. It’s like some accidental journalism or something.

Trey Gowdy to the committee. I like that guy.

June 20, 2012

The Bush did it too lie

It takes another hit: Holder withdraws claim that Bush’s attorney general knew about gunwalking

Even more fast and furious stuff

Obama to congress: Fuck you

Candidate Obama on executive privilege. He should talk to this president Obama guy.

NRA to score the Holder contempt vote.

Damn good questions:

How can the President assert executive privilege if there was no White House involvement? How can the President exert executive privilege over documents he’s supposedly never seen?

If the Obama narrative is true (like all things, it’s Bush’s fault. Which is a lie), then Holder should be commended.

Went to lunch today and the radio was still on the local news talk channel and Rush Limbaugh was talking about fast and furious. He said, probably rightly, that it was a plan to gin up support for gun control.

300 dead Mexicans: a privilege

Hope and change:

President Obama has granted an 11th-hour request by Attorney General Eric Holder to exert executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents, a last-minute maneuver that appears unlikely to head off a contempt vote against Holder by Republicans in the House.

As to why? Well:

Obama’s decision pertains to documents from February 2011 and afterward examining how Justice officials learned about the Fast and Furious probe.

They don’t want you to know what they know and when they knew it.

Fast and Furious: No Deal

Issa disappointed, says contempt vote will go as planned. Can’t blame him since Holder’s deal consisted of letting them peak but they had to stop asking.

Meanwhile, anti-gun shills say stupid things.

Hatch says Holder should resign

More whistle blowers coming out of the woodwork.

And Holder wants to meet his inquisitors privately. The public’s business is public.

Holder to compromise? This is me holding my breath.

CBS falsely claims to be first reporting on fast and furious. Except, of course, we know who really first reported it. And it seems that Sharyl Attkisson won the Edward R. Murrow award for her Fast and Furious coverage.

A few things on this. First, I was unaware that, apparently, wikipedia has been scrubbing David and Mike’s contribution to the case. And David says more is coming. As far as the credit goes, I think it’s pretty weak to pat yourself on the back and not bother to note the sources in the gun blogs. However, when the gunwalker stuff first getting play by David and Mike, it was mostly on an examiner.com site and, early on, I tried to follow it but would get lost in all that self-referential links that to more self-referential links. So, tracking it down was tedious. I think the story would have gotten out quicker were that not the case.

In ATF news

ATF raids wrong house. I would think a basic part of police work in this case is to verify that the person you’re looking for actually, you know, lives there.

Fast and furious poisoned Mexican opinion of US. Here in the states, most folks haven’t heard of it thanks to a press that’s in the tank.

Sound and fury, signifying nothing

GOP leaders go slow on Eric Holder contempt vote. Been a lot of talk about fast and furious, not much action.

DOJ Pay Cut

For not complying with the fast and furious probe. I’m not impressed. When my employees do not comply, they are fired. Also, $1M out of billions? Meh.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
