Former Arizona U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, who resigned in August, admitted late Tuesday that he leaked a document aimed at smearing Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent John Dodson, an Operation Fast and Furious whistle-blower.

A round up:
Well, if your agency is already breaking the law, I doubt you’d have any qualms about breaking more.
Doesn’t apologize to slain border agent’s family. Says fast and furious not responsible.
ATF sending guns to Mexico: it’s a loophole, according to Attorney General Holder.
Yeah, he should be fired.
Years back, I stopped altogether giving money to the Fraternal Order of Police for their support of the ban on weapons that look like assault weapons. While they’ve opposed gun control since, I’ve yet to see them actually go back and rescind their support for the ban on the most popular rifles in the country. So, I kinda thought they’d given it up and maybe I could go back to sending them money. Now, however, they’re standing behind Eric Holder. I don’t think I’d mind all that much if this wasn’t timed right before he’s about to testify on ATF allowing guns to flow into Mexico.
Speaking of, more ATF guns found at crime scenes.
Agent a few months short of retirement is being fired for giving a gun to a felon. Testimony against him is by informants.
Update: Fast and Furious in Knoxville? Well, giving guns to people who shouldn’t have them is how that worked.
Back in 2008, the internet was talking about the scam where some unscrupulous dealers would take a cheaper lawfully registered machine gun and convert it into a more expensive one. For instance, someone could convert a MAC (going for about $3K) into a Browning (at $15K). It was not a lawful conversion and was mostly altering receivers and fudging NFA paperwork. Now, it looks like there’s a federal case on a similar issue. And there are some questions about the extent that ATF was aware.
A reader emails that CSI Miami touched on Fast and Furious and wasn’t complimentary of ATF. Interesting. Any video out there?
The end game: Holder is trying to say that the only reason they had to break the law was because the laws weren’t strong enough to deter others from breaking them.

When Associated Press reporter Pete Yost uncritically repeated claims by anonymous Department of Justice officials that the Bush-era Operation Wide Receiver was “the same tactic” used by the Obama Justice Department in Operation Fast and Furious and other operations, I called him out, knowing the claim was incorrect.
Doesn’t fit the narrative.
The XO-26. A short AR with no stock and a vertical forward grip and the ATF have said it is neither a Short Barreled Rifle nor an Any Other Weapon. I expect that ATF would change its mind. Apparently, at 27 inches and being designed to be shot with two hands makes it an odd bird with ATF’s arbitrary regulations.
A read on the various complexities here. Act at your peril.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
