We have our first taker?

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

I said before: If you read the Internets and the blogs, you’d think this race was going to be a close race between Bryant and Ford. But you’d be wrong. It’s going to be Corker with Ford jumping up and down in the background saying pick me, pick me like the slow kid who always […]

TeeVee political ads

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

So last night on the TeeVee, there were wall to wall Ford and Corker commercials. Each candidate bad-mouthed the other. Yawn. Then, a commercial blasting Ford as the most liberal congressman in Tennessee came on. The commercial was put out by some Republican organization (I can’t recall which). I thought McCain-Feingold prohibited that. Or is […]

Quote of the day

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Terry Frank: I just don’t think Corker was ready for the prime time. Ayup.

More Harold Ford on the radio

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

It seems like once a week, I hear Harold Ford on the local talk radio. This morning, he had an entire hour. He’s really talking the talk. Based on addressing the issues and speaking to the public, he’s beating Bob Corker like like he owes him money. A few notes in the time I listened: […]

Get up, get, get, get down

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

If only Bob Corker were an incumbent, then this video wouldn’t be plaguing him.

B-Ho on H-Fo and B-Co

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

Bill Hobbs says Harold Ford Jr. Is a Liar. Yes, he is. But so is Bob Corker. B-Ho knows that. If cannot tell a lie was a requirement for office, we’d have no one in office.

Pol Polls

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

Sean Braisted: Well, it looks like we are gonna have a race in 2006 in Tennessee. The latest Rasmussen poll (courtesy of Chris Jackson) shows that Ford has cut his poll deficit by half against Bob Corker. It’s now 48% to 42%. It was 49% to 37%. With two dropouts, Ford is sucking slightly less.

More on the Tennessee senate race

Monday, August 7th, 2006

Brittney G. drops the linky and breaks out the thinky: Corker spent all his time, effort, money and energy cementing in the minds of Tennesseans that he is a far-right Republican. Ford, the known Democratic contender for some time, has been running as a moderate Democrat, with ads that place emphasis on immigration, national security […]

New Blog

Monday, August 7th, 2006

The day after the Senate primary, I asked: I wonder what these guys are gonna do now. Well, Jay Bush is now blogging here. He says: While, I share concerns about the GOP establishment’s refusal to back movement conservatives for statewide office in Tennessee, after some post-election night reflection, I’ve come to the conclusion that […]

Harold Ford, Jr. on guns

Friday, August 4th, 2006

With the primary decided, lets’ look at an issue important to me. I’ll do a post on Corker as soon as the man actually, you know, has a record. This morning on the local talk radio, Ford was asked about the second amendment. He stated he had a B rating from the NRA. I reported […]

The day after

Friday, August 4th, 2006

So, Campfield won. He beat the establishment challenger, which is good. It will also guarantee two more years of bloggy entertainment. Mostly incumbents won. This should shock no one because that’s what our system is set up to do. I told you so! Bob Corker will be the next senator from Tennessee. I’ll still bet […]

Take this endorsement down and apologize

Monday, July 31st, 2006

No, I kid about that and it’s an inside blog joke. But . . . The Tennessean endorsed Bob Corker, stating that he is an honest, energetic man. Now, The Tennessean says: One of Bob Corker’s television ads in his campaign for the U.S. Senate is seriously misleading. That’s bad, but the Corker campaign turned […]

Nothing’s shocking

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

This just in (via R. Neal): News Sentinel endorses Ford and Corker. As R. Neal notes, no one saw it coming. Why are papers in the business of endorsements anyway? Seems it could slant their coverage.

Smooch

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

Sundquist backs Corker? That’s the kiss of death. I may have to take it all back. Well, except that part about being a pussy. Fake conservatives backing fake conservatives.

The Senate Race

Friday, July 21st, 2006

There’s some little political tussle going on in my fair state for Senate. The three Republican candidates are duking it out, while Ford is waiting to see who precisely is going to beat him. Some notes on it: Corker, with his own cash and support from the Good Ol’ Boy machine, is buying this thing. […]

In a story you first heard on Six

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

When it comes to sensational news no station can hold a candle to WATE. WATE television news had another sensational news story where it made a production out of getting the story wrong. The story involved a debate in Halls Thursday evening with the Women’s League that the Sheriff was not able to attend because […]

I ask, AC Answers

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

I asked if there were any libertarian candidates in the Senate race. AC says: No, I don’t believe so. The announced candidates are: Ed Choate David Gatchell Emory “Bo” Heyward Gary Keplinger Chris Lugo Gary G. Davis (D) Harold Ford, Jr. (D) John Jay Hooker (D) Charles E. Smith (D) Al Strauss (D) Ed Bryant […]

More on Tennessee Senatorial Candidates and Guns

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

Rob Huddleston says Ford isn’t pro-gun, he just plays it on TeeVee: Ford has begun to support select pro-Second Amendment bills during the lead up to the Senate race in an effort to muddy his anti-Second Amendment past, but the “gun nuts” are supposed to be smart enough to know an election season chameleon when […]

Tennessee Senatorial Candidates On Guns

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

There’s a big Senate race to replace Bill Frist in my state. So, here’s what I found on the candidates with respect to the gun issue: Ed Bryant says on his website: I support the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees our right to keep and bear arms. As U.S. Attorney for West […]

Tennessee Senatorial Debate

Sunday, July 2nd, 2006

Terry Frank also has notes from the Republican debate: I was seated directly behind Mayor Haslam. Two interesting notes here: Carolyn Jensen, face-lady for Sen. Bill Frist, leaned over to the Mayor following the opening remarks and remarked that “he” is doing well, “isn’t he?” The “he”, of course, being Bob Corker. It seems Corker […]

Call a turd a turd

Friday, June 16th, 2006

The Geek notes that the city attorney that defended the handgun ban in San Fran position was: We’re disappointed that the court has denied the right of voters to enact a reasonable, narrowly tailored restriction on handgun possession, I don’t think an outright ban (Mr. and Mr. San Francisco, turn them in) is a reasonable, […]

Principles before party

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

Good for Bryant: While Mr. Hilleary and Mr. Corker both stated their willingness to support the eventual Republican nominee, a spokesman for Mr. Bryant said the former congressman declined to say whether he would endorse whoever wins the Aug. 3 GOP primary election. Good for Bryant not de facto toeing the party line.

Tennessee Senate Race

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

I’m lukewarm on the candidates for Frist’s soon to be vacant seat. But if the signage is an indication (and it usually is), it’s looking like Corker has the backing of the local good ol’ boy network here in East Tennessee. I decided a while back that you can pretty much determine who will win […]

Endorsement – Tennessee Senate ’06

Wednesday, March 16th, 2005

Hilleary, fresh off his defeat in the run for governor of Tennessee, has announced that he will be a candidate for Frist’s soon to be vacant seat. Hilleary will likely get the backing of the local Republican machine would be my guess. His ties to former (and disgraced) governor Sundquist may be almost forgotten now. […]
