Bushmaster advertisement for AR-15s in issues of Maxim magazine: From Gun Porn Well, they do share the name of the inventor of the machine gun and sound suppressor. Also an ad for the Remington 870. A few years back, I would never have imagined a men’s magazine catering to young men (some even say metrosexuals) […]

DiFi not so keen on gun control: The National Rifle Association essentially has a stranglehold on the congress. Meanwhile, Tom Diaz of the Violence Policy center laments the death of gun control as a movement: The guys with the guns make the rules. Get used to it. I’d almost feel bad for the guy. I […]

If, say five year ago, you told me that there would be an actual discussion on the floor of passing concealed carry laws in Illinois, I would not have believed you. But it’s happening: Springfield is headed toward a political showdown over guns, with both sides loading up like they haven’t in years. The gun […]

Or, rather, they’re losing. Joe notes that Josh Horowitz of the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence, which has never been educational, now will also not be a fund. Seems that they are out of money err lacking support err going to practice telecommuting err are cutting back on office space and paying jobs.

TheHill.com: Lawmakers who favor gun control are not optimistic about next year even though Democrats may be running Congress and the White House. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), the sponsor of legislation that would reinstate the expired federal assault weapons ban, dismissed the idea that her bill might pass in the 111th Congress. “It’s a pro-gun […]

Someone call Eric Zorn a Waaahmbulance: I’ve written several posts and column items recently on the issue of gun control — the most recent one asking for ideas from both sides about compromises that gun-rights people and gun-ban people might be able to live with.
