A federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday that the U.S. Constitutions Second Amendment protects the right to openly carry a gun in public for self-defense, rejecting a claim by Hawaii officials that the right only applies to guns kept at home.
The ruling by a three-judge panel on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, makes the San Francisco-based court the sixth U.S. circuit court to interpret the Second Amendment this way and could set the issue on a path toward the U.S. Supreme Court, which has not taken up a major gun rights case since 2010.
Yes, it’s the ninth circuit and not the full court. I don’t expect it to last. Small victories, though.

Not sure I’d be keen on firing this thing since, to aim, you have to point the pointy end at your face:
The NRS-2 ("Scout Firing Knife") (GRAU index 6P25U) is a survival knife with a built-in single-shot shooting mechanism designed to fire a 7.6242mm SP-4 (СП-4) cartridge, the same cartridge designed for the PSS silent pistol. #russian_military_tourhttps://t.co/4ASXA0xYTR pic.twitter.com/AihKNSHdo3

Convert your PMAGS to hold 9mm:
It’s neat in that it eliminates the need for a magazine block for your 9mm AR. But I don’t know that the price per magazine makes them worth it. Still, pretty cool.

If the load is hot, you get a bit more out of it. But all of hotter loads I’ve shot have been a beast to hold on to.

The Army’s Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle looks to do it all:
The aim is for the NGSARs to fire bullets at pressure levels similar to those achieved by tanks when they fire. Rounds will smash through advanced adversary body armor even at a distance, allowing soldiers to accurately shoot while maintaining a safe distance from the threat whenever possible.
The Army would like the new weapon chamber pressure to be between 60 and 80 KSI (kilopound per square inch). To put that into context, the Armys M1 Abrams main battle tank fires at that chamber pressure. Assault rifles tend to be around 45 KSI, so this will definitely be higher.
The ACLU: A Pro-Liberty Case for Gun Restrictions
In a nutshell, school shootings have lead to increased searches, more surveillance, and other things that infringe on liberty. If we had gun control, those would go away.
Except, you know, they will not go away no matter the gun control. The various Wars on Nouns would be the justification.

If you read just a bit of this, the implication is that the NRA is somehow tied to Russian election meddlers. But, basically, she’s a member and met a few NRA folks at a gun rights festival.
Interesting polling data from Pew. So, let’s see. US adult population is 249,485,228. 3 in 10 own a gun. So that means 74,845,568 say they own guns. Of those 3 in 10, 19% say they’re NRA members. So, 14,220,658 people are NRA members? Or, rather, some number of people think they’re members.
Who I’ve never heard of. One Avery Gardiner, Brady Campaign Co-president (honestly, I’d kind of forgotten Brady still existed), drops the big lie regarding Kavanaugh:
What we know about his stances is through the opinions hes issued on assault weapons. A challenge to DCs ban on assault weapons went before him and two other judgesall three were [appointed by] Republicans. The panel split 2-1 to uphold the law, with Judge Kavanaugh as the dissenter. He thinks assault weapons are within the scope of the Second Amendment, which puts him way out of step with the Supreme Court and circuit courts that have considered this issue. [The Second Amendment] protects the kinds of weapons that were in common use at the timein 1791, when the Second Amendment was adopted. Those are [former Supreme Court Justice Antonin] Scalias words. Judge Kavanaugh just uses the first part of that phrase, in common use and leaves out the at the time part.
Perhaps she should read the Heller decision:
Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment . We do not interpret constitutional rights that way. Just as the First Amendment protects modern forms of communications, e.g., Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U. S. 844, 849 (1997) , and the Fourth Amendment applies to modern forms of search, e.g., Kyllo v. United States, 533 U. S. 27, 3536 (2001) , the Second Amendment extends, prima facie,to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
