My new carry rig
Oleg has a pic. Michael at The Holster Site made me a custom piece. Instead of babying it, I decided to just strap the whole thing on and go to gun school with it. I figure that’d be as good a test as anything. A few initial impressions:
That is one stiff belt. I like it. Keeps the gun in place nicely. Had to work it a bit to get it loose enough to wear. That’s not a bug, that’s a feature.
The holster is snug too and requires working it in. My first draw at gun school was real snug because I hadn’t worked it in. But after doing that 30 or so times, it was nice. It did ensure I had a snug grip on the pistol though.
After wearing it all day on day one and two and running the rig through gun school, it still looks brand new.

That red stitching is awesome. I may have to break open my wallet for another belt.

Michel made me a rig that looks just like yours only I had mine done in brown basketweave. Let me know if you want some pictures. It’s gorgeous.

I’ve met Michael and Jennifer. They’re great folks, and they do terrific quality work. The stingray holsters are phenomenal. They brought out a bag of samples and passed them around for inspection the last time I saw them; I feel an upcoming order going in.

Both Galco and Mitch Rosen sell products designed to alleviate that sticky gun/holster situation.
Galco: DRAW-EZ half-oz bottle

Rosen: Leather Lightning

Both are very similar, although I prefer the LL stuff. Used it since the early 90’s. That little bottle will last for a LONG time! Put a drop on your fingertip, and rub it on all the contact areas inside the holster. Wait 5 minutes, and it’s ready to go. Repeat whenever it starts to feel grabby.
