Call your reps err Wal Mart
No, really. They are meeting with Biden’s sham of a gun control group tomorrow and they need to hear from you. So, from a reader:
Ok, everybody, don’t call stores, call corporate. Here’s the number: (479)273-4000
That gets you the home office. Tell them you want to express an opinion and they’ll immediately transfer you to another line where you will talk to a real person who will take your comment and record the call.
They are getting calls going both ways right now. They said that they have made not decisions going forward except to hear what Biden’s group says and then weigh that with the comments from their customers.
So start calling. Have your family and friends call. Overwhelm their switchboard with calls and we may keep them on our side.
I would tell them that if they cave, they lose a customer and that customer’s family. And you’ll tell anyone likeminded that you know. So, get on it.
Also, contact your federal representatives. If everyone who bought an AR-15 magazine since 2004 called their reps, these bills would never get out of committee.

January 9th, 2013 at 9:00 pm
Sir, in several news pieces on the Internet they say that Walmart is blowing off Obama and Biden’s committee.
WTH?
January 9th, 2013 at 9:03 pm
oops. Yep, Walmart changed their mind. Walmart is attending:

What you do is go get what you usually get in your weekly grocery shopping, take the cart of items up to the check out then tell the check out clerk, “this is what i used to buy here every week, and no longer will, due to your coziness with the administration’s attack on our constitutional rights… and walk out.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:32 pm
Use their web form “Company Feedback and Questions”
https://corporate.walmart.com/contact-us/store-corporate-feedback
January 9th, 2013 at 9:32 pm
nunya, then you will annoy a clerk and a store manager, neither who have any control over Wal-Mart’s political stances.
Just call. It’s easier.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:43 pm
Something else to consider doing is buy some ammo there soon. I did that yesterday at my local Wal-Mart, figuring they’ll be less willing to give up a business that is doing well for them than one that isn’t.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:49 pm
Guys, Walmart stopped selling handguns a long time ago, remember? They don’t care about your opinions.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:50 pm
Yeah, the largest retailer of rifles doesn’t care about what their customers think.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:54 pm
I left them a message on their corporate site.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:58 pm
What about Bass Pro? Heard they were in on it too.
January 9th, 2013 at 10:13 pm
Posted a polite responce on their website telling them they will alienate a huge fraction of their customers and the left will still think they are evil due their non union status.

Sent via the corporate comment page:
Dear Walmart Corporate Staff,
I am writing as a loyal customer, voter, and firearm safety instructor. I am disappointed in your participation in the Joe Biden “Gun Control” meetings. If Walmart choses to make a BUSINESS decision to refrain from selling firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories in Walmart stores, I won’t like it but I will understand and support it. If Walmart choses to participate in a political carnival for the purpose of restricting the rights of people who have done nothing wrong, then I will go out of my way to never patronize your stores again.
Let me repeat: I understand and support Walmart performing business related due diligence regarding what products should be offered for sale in Walmart stores. However, I will happily and willingly pay more money to shop elsewhere (and spread the word that I am doing so to anyone who will listen) if Walmart participates in restricting my rights as an American citizen.
Please concentrate your efforts on business decisions, not appeasing Washington policy makers who seek to criminalize exercising our Constitutional rights.
Thank you for your time.

It’s interesting to me – if Walmart gives in to the anti-gun crowd it’ll hurt their business because I’d wager that there’s a strong correlation between pro-gun people and Walmart shoppers.
OTOH, people who are anti-gun seem way more likely to be anti-Walmart. If Walmart acquiesces they seem very unlikely to pick up the business of anti-gun folks.
January 9th, 2013 at 10:35 pm
Great points on how anti-gun people don’t like walmart. Tell walmart that.
Oh and unions!
January 9th, 2013 at 10:37 pm
Eh…I’m afraid I’m with the ‘let it burn’ crowd on this one. The sooner it all starts, the sooner it’s all over with. All we can do, now, is to put the inevitable off by a few days or weeks. We can’t stop the war that’s coming.
Plus, when the SHTF, WalMart will be among the first places to be looted. So, if they cave, they’ll pay, sooner or later.
January 10th, 2013 at 12:51 am
It depends upon where you live as to whether the local WalMart sells handguns. The WalMart down the street from my house (in Eagle River, AK) sells handguns, rifles, ammo, and accessories.
January 10th, 2013 at 1:47 am
I plan to tell them that if they cave, I’ll set aside my principles too. I’ll campaign for every proposed anti-big box ordinance, sign union petitions, make myself a constant presence at zoning/planning hearings, etc. My family will do just fine without crappy Chinese sneakers, but is WalMart prepared for the level of pain we’re willing to bring?
January 10th, 2013 at 9:46 am
I know I’m late, but I called them this morning and expressed my opinion
January 10th, 2013 at 9:55 am
Why would Walmart insert themselves into such a divisive political issue? Simply a sign of incompetent management. Now they are set up to lose customers no matter what happens.
If they cooperate with Obama and it results in new gun restrictions, I will never set foot in a Walmart again, ever (I shop there at least twice a month right now).
If they pull out, they risk the same reaction from the statists. Just incompetence.
January 10th, 2013 at 10:26 am
Let’s see: Walmart says it will not participate and then says it will. Key question: What threats against them did Obama’s administration make?
And remember that megabusinesses simply love government regulations because, as Walmart may have grasped on its own, they get to write them. That’s how megabusinesses shut down their smaller competition, by formulating regulations that are just too expensive for small businesses to comply with.
January 10th, 2013 at 10:27 am
I called today and expressed my opinion. They were very polite and said they had received a large number of calls.
January 10th, 2013 at 10:59 am
I’ve tried calling several times this morning, but after a few minutes on hold I get disconnected. So I used their corporate contact form instead.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:13 am
@Donald Sensing
Walmart had very humble beginnings as a single store in Arkansas competing in a field dominated by mega-business chains like KMart, Sears etc. They beat the established competition through innovative business practices that saved money which they passed down to customers in the form of cheaper prices.
Back on topic. I will not support Walmart if they cave to politicians that wish see American citizens disarmed.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:19 am
My email:
I support the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In the past, I have bought most of my hunting and camping gear, including ammunition, from Walmart. My wife purchases quite a bit of our food and over the counter medicine from Walmart.
If Walmart caves in to pressure from the Obama administration and supports Gun Control in any way, shape, form or manner, you will have lost me and my family as customers.
Permanently.
Not only will I (and my family) refuse to purchase anything from Walmart, I/we will make Walmart an exception to our free market beliefs and support every single anti-Walmart initiative or effort that we can find.
I think I speak for a majority of your customers. If you think your company can survive on the revenue from the very same Democrat/Leftist activists who have been attacking your company for years, support the Obama administration. There are thousands of companies and mom and pop shops that will love the increase in business.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:24 am
@ Nick: “Walmart had very humble beginnings as a single store in Arkansas competing in a field dominated by mega-business chains like KMart, Sears etc. They beat the established competition through innovative business practices that saved money which they passed down to customers in the form of cheaper prices.”
Can say the same thing about Standard Oil, too. JD Rockefeller was all about competition when he was a small operator. When Standard Oil became one of the largest players in the business, somehow JDR’s love of competition evaporated.
Sam Walton doesn’t run the company any more. Its humble beginnings no longer matter.
I have, btw, been a devoted Wally World customer for decades and even bought a rifle and a lot of ammunition there this year (before December). I am not anti-Walmart at all, but if they climb aboard the Obama train, I might become so.
I still wonder, though, if and how the administration leaned on them to make them change their mind so suddenly.

Big Boxes make make ordinary stores high-capacity assault weapons used only to attack other businesses in the community. They should be banned and existing ones should be limited in the variety of commodities they can offer.
Oh yeah, they are also icky.
January 10th, 2013 at 12:18 pm
I think the Wal Mart representative(s), if they are going to attend the Biden task force, should show up ahead of time at the meeting place and hold a press conference. They should also bring their own recording press people and insist, before going in, that the “most transparent administration in history” have these meetings, where gun control is being discussed, open rather than behind closed doors. C-Span would be nice.
A little sun shining is a good thing.
January 10th, 2013 at 12:21 pm
I just called the above corporate phone number. The lady I spoke with was nice and respectful. She read Walmart’s statement to me. I told her my opinion and she took my phone number. I guess they’ll come knocking at my door one day!
January 10th, 2013 at 1:02 pm
Bass Pro Shop on board? Hard to imagine?
January 10th, 2013 at 1:04 pm
Quick easy and smooth. Spelled my name for Ree, told her I’d like to hear in the media that they’re representatives opposed further firearm regulation. She thanked me, mentioned they have no plans to stop selling firearms at this time (maybe that’s scripted?) and said that she would pass my comment up to the management team responsible for this meeting. Heck if they do the right thing I might -actually- shop there 😉
January 10th, 2013 at 1:07 pm
I just called again today and the guy I got didn’t read the statement. Instead, he told me that he agreed wholeheartedly, that he hoped that Wal-Mart wouldn’t change their policies, and that he didn’t think they would because they had been getting an avalanche of calls today, and that it’s a landslide in our favor.
Keep up the good work people!
January 10th, 2013 at 1:13 pm
“My family will do just fine without crappy Chinese sneakers, but is WalMart prepared for the level of pain we’re willing to bring?”
“Why would Walmart insert themselves into such a divisive political issue?”
Surely the Obama apparat has already put the screws to WalMart, and a valid question is “What level of pain is Obama willing to bring?” All he can muster, I’d wager.
January 10th, 2013 at 1:15 pm
If WalMart drops gun sales it would be a significant boost to the real gun shops; that could be a real good thing.
January 10th, 2013 at 1:36 pm
Just called and got through after a couple of minutes. I read this:
“Hi there,
for what it’s worth, I am calling to express my disapproval of Wal-Mart’s participation in Joe Biden’s gun control meeting today. I split my purchases of ammunition between wal-mart and Academy and, if Wal-mart decides to side with the people who are intent on limiting our constitutional rights, I will be purchasing *all* of my ammunition from Academy. I will also change all of my buying habits from Wal-Mart to the Target just across the street.
Thanks.”
January 10th, 2013 at 1:43 pm
I’ve got calls and emails into my Rep and both Senators plus one into Wally World. Time to put the fear of god into some people…
January 10th, 2013 at 2:03 pm
I just called. I was surprised to get right in and be able to talk to a representative. She was very polite. Make the call.
January 10th, 2013 at 2:15 pm
I sent an email several days ago. I made a call just now. It was answered by a woman who could have been Obama’s daughter. I told her that I would stop patronizing WM unless they opposed the Zero’s gun control agenda. The idiot then read back my comment to me that I “opposed the sale of guns.” I corrected her, and told her that I favored the sale of guns, I favored the sale of ammunition, and that I opposed gun control. She then corrected her record of my response to reflect that I favored the sale of guns.”
Two take home points. First, the game is probably rigged – they are counting pro-2A calls as anti-2A calls. Second, it sounds like the Zero’s intent is to get WM to stop selling firearms altogether.
January 10th, 2013 at 2:26 pm
I called. They said they would escalate my comments (and other people’s on this matter) to the executive committee.
January 10th, 2013 at 3:03 pm
Surely the Obama apparat has already put the screws to WalMart
B-b-b-but “corporate power”!
“Hitler sat across the table from Papen and repeated what he had said in hundreds of speeches; that of course the creative personality must have free play in the economic sphere as elsewhere; that of course it had to serve the common welfare. A pathetic utterance — in its substance, stated in simple terms, was approximately: Let them make plenty of money, then they’ll do what we say.” — Konrad Heiden, “Der Fuehrer”
The core Left (as opposed to most Occupiers) harbors no illusions about who really holds the power in the corporate-government chimera. Neither should we.

Thank you for your message.
Dear James,
Thank you for your recent inquiry. Walmart, like the rest of the country, has been
engaged in a national dialogue about the responsible sale and regulation of firearms. We
have had ongoing conversations with the Administration, Congress, Mayor Bloomberg’s
office, sportsmen groups, suppliers and others to listen and share our thoughts and
experiences.
Over the years we have been very purposeful about striking the right balance between
serving hunters and sportsmen and ensuring that we sell firearms responsibly. In fact, we
became a charter member of Mayor Bloomberg’s coalition against illegal guns and adopted
the 10-point code established by the Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership that goes
beyond what the law requires. We have also spoken to the Vice President’s office to share
our perspective.
We take this issue very seriously and are committed staying engaged in this discussion as
the Administration and Congress work toward a consensus on the right path forward.
Sincerely,
Walmart Customer Care

Hey guys, forgive me if someone already pointed this out, but I didn’t see it in any of the posts I read above.
But alot of people posting here seem to be under the impresion that Obite me is trying to convince Wal Mart to STOP Selling Guns. That’s not the case. The reason they want Wal Mart in there is to get Wal Mart to support their ban on OTHER people selling guns and ammo. The idea is to bribe WM into supporting them by convincing them that if there is a national registry, and that they will only use places like WM or BassPro to be authorized registration agents, it will drive more gun business to Wal Mart stores, and maybe eventually drive independant dealers out of business, leaving WM as the only company left standing. That is the cunning danger of them courting walmart! They are offering wm basically a monopoly on gun and ammo sales in the US!!! That is much worse than telling them to stop selling guns themselves, because wm would never give up that revenue stream, but if they could expand it at the expense of their competitors… oh well!!!
January 11th, 2013 at 12:26 am
Racist,
That’s what I understood Obama to be doing, and what I told Wal-Mart not to buy into. Keep calling folks, and make it clear that you don’t want them to buy into ANY administration desire to have a registry, run private sales through Wal-Mart, etc. Keep the pressure on until they make a decision one way or the other.
January 11th, 2013 at 12:50 am
I have often wondered why Wal-Mart hasn’t tried to corner the market on weapons like they have most everything else. They couldn’t control gun shows and private sales, but they could rule the retail business on guns if they had a mind to. Just a thought…
