ExcitingEvents.com replies and they are actually some cool people
Today, I received a response from Dan at ExcitingEvents.com. He was courteous and professional. He also apologized for his employee’s behavior; said his employee was overzealous; and took responsibility for not reviewing the emails before they were sent out.
Also, he sent me links to their actual shirt gun in use (it’s not the one in the video) and, let me tell you, it’s pretty awesome. I’ll show it to you once he gives the OK.
Seriously, nice guy. I commend them for reaching out to me.
Thanks, Dan!
Update: Here’s their awesome T-Shirt Gatling Gun:
Love the muzzle blast effect.

Good job!

That’s good news.

Awesome. This is how things should work. Feathers will get ruffled, people will think outside the box to poor results, but in the end it’s how you handle adversity that shows what kind of person / company you are.

Good response. Maybe they can offer to bring the shirt out to a gun blogger shoot out!

Reminds me of Gary Larsen’s Jane Goodall cartoon. He received a “cease and desist” letter from Goodall’s staff and was devastated, because he admired and respected her. Eventually he found that Goodall herself loved the cartoon, and the letter was from an overzealous employee.
For that matter we had the tempest in a teapot when some civil rights organization blasted Taco Bell for their “racist” talking chihuahua. Turned out – yep, a rogue employee took it upon himself to make policy and ended up being disavowed by the organization.

I’m a cynic, I guess. I’ve never seen bullies back down until you get in their faces and punch them out.
Had a similar experience with a Big Four rep about a decade ago years ago. Got a threat, told them, ‘Great! We can’t wait ’til the discovery process begins.’ Never heard another word.
Which is, essentially, what happened, here.
You gotta fight back, right from the start, or they’ll never leave you alone.

I think this was more a case of someone going to far trying to do their job.
September 6th, 2013 at 6:30 pm
Definitely going too far — but if you don’t call them on it, they won’t back off. They’d have to admit they did something dumb.

They did it! They said Uncle. How about that.

If I had a nickel for every time I clicked Send or Submit when I should have clicked X …. But it is true what Ellen said. People often will not back down even knowing what they did was stupid.

Now I’ve got blue balls.
