Wasn’t the original intent of truancy laws to keep kids from ending up in factories and the family farm instead of the school house? With all our manufacturing jobs going overseas, and the .gov paying people NOT to farm, why are truancy laws even on the books any more?

Per diem. The state pays a school system $$ per day per kid.

Just another reason to support the separation of skool and state. Abolish public skools.
