More Haslam and Guns – Update
The video mentioned here is now online here. A few notes:
Gene Patterson acknowledges WATE hasn’t covered Haslam’s involvement in this group.
The general consensus shared by the panel (and Glenn and me) is that Haslam didn’t know all the details about the group he joined.
Apparently, Knoxville has been having gun buybacks. A reader and I plan on attending the next one with a fistful of dollars in protest to such a stupid idea.
Would it have killed you folks to acknowledge that some blogger no one has ever heard of broke the story?
Update: Oh, and Frank Cagle said something to the effect of The Kel-Tec is the weapon of choice for about a dozen state legislators. I have one and recommend them. That’d be some cool marketing: Four out of five legislators agree . . .

Uncle, we are all human and we all make mistakes. However, how long has Mayor Haslam had to respond to that mistake? The best course of action when a mistake is made is to acknowledge it and take action.
What does the Mayor’s delay tell us?
The Mayor’s steadfast determination on Knoxville’s Red Light cameras gave me pause. His lack of acknowledgement and response to this Bloomberg issue is more serious. Would the Mayor have responded if you had not exposed the issue? I don’t believe he would have.

Kel-Tecs rock. I carry one and so do several of my friends.
The commercial appeal referred to them as caltechs. How sad that in an article about how more and more people in Shelby county are getting gun permits, they can’t even get the name of the gun they fired right. Are there no reporters who know ANYTHING about guns? I suppose I shouldn’t complain, they tried their best to not make gun permits evil.

Kel Tecs are small and lightweight making them easy to carry. Of course the 40S&W is quite a handful but they’ve quit making it. The nine will also rock you.
Haslam should have checked before joining Mayor Bloomberg’s “Alliance Against Illegal Guns. Just what is an “illegal” gun anway. Tennesseans bit Al Gore over the gun issue and it will do the same to Haslam, and dodging the issuing isn’t going to help his case any. Bloomberg continues to pursue lawsuits against the gun industry even after President Bush signed the “Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act,” meant to stop these frivolous lawsuits.
Tip to Haslam — resign from this outfit and hold a press conference saying you affirm the rights of citizens to keep and bear arms. Oh yes, and forget the misnamed “gun buy back” program. You just waste taxpayers money buying stuff that hasn’t been a problem to law enforcement but makes politicians look like they are doing something noble. It isn’t getting “guns off the street,” since they weren’t on the street to begin with
