Bleg: Flickr
I don’t use Flickr but a friend does. He posted some wedding photos that my wife wants to send off to winkflash to have some hard copies. Anyhoo, right click/save as saves the file as garbage. How do save local copies on flickr?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

Never used Flickr before, just did a quick look around the site, so take this with a grain of salt.
Using Firefox.
Left click the image you want to view.
Right click the image and click “view image” on the menu that pops up.
Right click the image that shows up this time and click “save image as”
To check, right click any image and click “properties” and make sure the file has a valid extension like .jpg or .gif. Pictures on Flickr’s display pages aren’t directly linked to the images.

Ah. I guess my friend has some kinda special settings. I found random pics and saved them just fine. His do not. Odd.

At the top of each image is a link to “All sizes” … click on that and there you will find a direct download link.

This is incorrect.
I believe the writer is referring to the fact that many images on Flickr, when right clicked, show a filename of “spaceball.gif”
That indicates that the person who posted the pics chose to make them “not available for download”. What Flickr does to those images is cover them with a transparent image (named spaceball.gif) that is saved rather than the actual image it covers.
The only way to save these kinds of files is to have the poster removed the “private” label from them.
