Three types of people

I know you are but what am I?

Says Roger:

Uncle, for instance, pointed out that the list basically gave crooks a list of potential targets for gun theft. Odd, because I saw it exactly the opposite way: here’s a list of people I wouldn’t mess with if I were a crook.

Well, you can’t be home all the time and that’s where I keep most of my guns.

True enough, and when I looked at it that way I completely saw your point. But, as I said, I’m not a big gun guy, so I have to rely on you folks to give your perspectives.

    Hey, at least I’m not a pants-wetter!

  2. SayUncle Says:

    That can be fixed 😉

God Bless the gun safe w/ anchor bolt 😉 Besides, the CCW permit doesn’t signify that a person is a gun nut/collector, rather, that he probably has at least one gun that he takes with him.

  4. gattsuru Says:

Yes, but the average gun owner is at 3-4 guns, and CCW-owners are probably more dedicated to gun ownership than your average gun owner. They’re also known to own at least one gun, and there are many places they can’t take that gun. It’s not a sure bet, but it’s a lot of extra value for a theft if you’re going to commit one anyway.

  5. JustDoIt Says:

To me, CCW holders represent the far more responsible element of society, fully cognizant of the inability (and in many cases, unwillingness) of “law enforcement” (HA! That label is becoming more and more of a joke everyday) to provide protection for them and/or their families.

It’s the “ungunners” who are the “nuts” in society. With their pipe-dream utopian beliefs that the police are there to protect them. To me they’re nothing more than professional victims just waiting for their turn.

All I have to say to them is, “Go ahead. Dial 911 and Die.”

    (Great book, by the way).

  6. JustDoIt Says:

“There are many places they can’t take that gun.”

Should be more like “There are many places they’re not supposed to take that gun.” That’s why it’s called “concealed carry”.

  7. #9 Says:

The fix for this is simple. We need a State Law that protects the privacy of CCW holders. We need it now.

We also need to continue the protest against “Mayors against self-defense”. I don’t see how anyone can vote for Bill Haslam after his refusal to explain why he joined and has so far refused to step down from the Bloomberg anti-self-defense mob of Mayors.

It is not just Mayors and newspapers that have forgotten the Constitution. The local Knoxville Police Department could use some remedial education on the law also. As reported by Betty Bean on KnoxViews:

There you have the trifecta. Mayors, newspapers, and police that don’t understand the Constitution or have the ethics to uphold it.

You can say the Tennessean didn’t break the law but they certainly broke the spirit of the law. Your Social Security number is a government document. But you sure as hell don’t want it published.

All the time while harping about Sunshine Laws newspapers ignore reporting the news. They filter and twist the news to the point it becomes PR for the local government. The media is no longer a defender of the public trust. It is a big part of the problem.

Just as a back-of-the-hand guess, I do think it’s safe to assume that CCW permit holders tend to own more than one gun, at least compared to the rest of the population. Come to think of it, there is not a permit holder I know personally who does not have at least two, and it’s usually four or more.

  9. SayUncle Says:

Heck, you need at least two. One for pre labor day and one for after labor day.

    I’m such a girl.

  10. Ron W Says:

Very well said, JustDoIt, when you wrote,

“To me, CCW holders represent the far more responsible element of society,…. It’s the “ungunners” who are the “nuts” in society. With their pipe-dream utopian beliefs that the police are there to protect them. To me they’re nothing more than professional victims just waiting for their turn.”

Maybe we should call them “gunless nuts” or the “nuts of gunlessness” except when they want the hired guns to make us gunless or impose gunlessness on us.

  11. markm Says:

To burglars who are especially cowardly or don’t trust their ability or patience to scout and make sure no one’s home before breaking in, this is a list of places to avoid. For those who don’t mind breaking into an occupied house, even more so. But for those who have the connections to sell stolen guns and trust their ability to scout and plan an operation, it’s list of places to stake out and break into when they become sure the owner is away. So publishing the list increases the danger both to the CCW license-holders and to their gunless neighbors.

Aside from that, whether I carry a gun just isn’t your business.

It isn’t the state’s business either, so I don’t tell them.

  13. Sigivald Says:

SayUncle: Then I have the perfect gun for you.

Oh, come on. You asked for that.

  14. #9 Says:

SayUncle: Then I have the perfect gun for you.

Next to the pink Glock, that is the second ugliest gun I have ever seen.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
