50 Cal
Looks like the Senate has introduced the Long-Range Sniper Rifle Safety Act of 2007. (can’t get the link to work so search for S 1331 at thomas). The bill, as written, adds 50 caliber (and equivalents) to the list of items regulated as NFA weapons, specifically destructive devices (i.e., a 50 caliber will be treated like a machine gun, suppressor, short barreled rifles, etc.).

Not. Going. Anywhere.
And that would be A Senator, not The Senate (unless, of course, there were 100 co sponsors).

Actually, it looks like a few senators. And without thinking, you could probably name them all.

That’s the trouble with the Thomas site: it doesnt’ sort the wheat from the chaff. If you took all the ludicrous bills that are filed seriously, you’d go nuts.

The GPO PDF work good for a permanent link

Anyone want to help me build the first 12.69mm? It’s not 50 cal, but should serve the same purpose.

Robb, the bill actually puts a limit of 12,000 foot pounds on rifles.
It’s not written like the California ban.

11,900 foot pounds then

I wonder if Sen. Hillary Clinton will go duck hunting with her Secret Service agents during her campaign. After all, she’s for “reasonable” gun control.
Gringo_Malo Says:
That’s not a fault of Thomas. It’s designed to list all the bills and not pass judgment on them. All obfuscation rightly belongs on the shoulders of the critters themselves.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s110-1331 Short and easy to read at 510 words. Clearly written to be understood by the rabble, but the fact that they posted an upper limit on foot-pounds shows that some thought was put into it.
President Clinton would sign this. So would President Obama. Also President Schwarzenegger and either Bush, sadly enough.

“I wonder if Sen. Hillary Clinton will go duck hunting with her Secret Service agents during her campaign. After all, she’s for “reasonable” gun control.”
Maybe she’ll invite Dick Cheney to go hunting with her…
