Is there supposed to be a link to thirdpower in there?

I still don’t understand why so many people hold the 1934 NFA and 1968 GCA against the NRA. They weren’t even really structured as a political organization at all then, since it was founded as a group to train people in gun use and safety. Hell, even after they formed the NRA-ILA, they had a hard time getting people to agree on how to approach gun control laws.

I do wish I could figure out why the dropped the ball so badly in 1986 though. I’d love to know if it was just bad tactics, or if they felt that they were representing the majority of their membership, which sadly still seems to be the “I’m a hunter, and I don’t understand why ‘those people’ need ‘that type of gun'” member.

Brian, NRA wanted the FOPA. The MG ban (hughes amendment) was tacked on at the end under a questionable voice vote.

Thanks Uncle. I find that I sometimes have problems finding answers to things of that nature unless I already have a halfway decent idea of what the answer was in the first place.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
