Down the memory hole
You’ll recall Alexander Tristan Riley (AKA The Culturologist who blogged here and also was a PhD in some made up field at Bucknell). You’ll recall he was bigoted against gays, Catholics and Muslims. That he advocated violence against people on sex offender registries. And that he is generally a disgusting human being. Then, one day, his blog disappeared. Totally gone. Not even a good bye. He’s even gone so far as to scrub it from The Wayback Machine and Google Cache. Why would he do that? Well, here’s your answer:
Talking recently with a conservative group of students, Bucknell University Professor Alexander Riley said their views on gun control don’t differ much from those fighting for stronger state regulations.
“These kids, all conservatives, were all in support of better legislation to control firearms,” said Riley, a sociologist and new member of CeaseFire PA’s board of directors.
Well, we can’t have known bigots on the board of an anti-gun group, now can we?
Thirdpower has more, including some of Mr. Riley’s better moments. I mean, really, it’s a long list.
Update: Robb: We’re not going to let you slither away from your hateful screeds. Every time you open your filthy soup cooler, we’re going to be there to remind everyone what a nasty, hateful creature you are.

I think I’m going to send an e-mail to the CeaseRights PA chapter with a link to this page. I know they will probably deny it, but, being a PA resident, I just want to know why they would place such an asshole on their Board of Directors.
Any objections to sending them a link to this blog?
December 21st, 2007 at 11:32 am
NOt at all. Though, I’d recommend sending a link to thirdpower’s page instead since it has better examples of Riley’s hatred.

10-4. Horse is on a mission…… I’ll let you know if I hear back from them. Don’t hold your breath though…

As a PA resident, I feel the need to voice concern about a certain member of your Board of Directors. If you follow the above-posted link, you will find a rather disturbing account of Alexander Tristan Riley, aka, the “Culturologist” and his slanderous and hatred-filled tirades against gays, Catholics and gun-owners, to name a few.
What is even more disturbing is the length to which Mr. Riley went in an effort to cover up and erase all past history of his diatribes against people who do not agree with his “moral standard” just to look “clean” in the public eye with his new found position within your organization. This clearly demonstrates the personal character of Mr. Riley as well as the character of your organization for hiring such a venomous person. Well, you can be sure that those of us here in PA, as well as throughout the country who respect individuality, personal freedoms, and RIGHTS such as sexual orientation, women’s rights, and gun ownership will be keeping a close eye on this situation.
Instead of placing your focus on infringing upon the rights of law-abiding citizens by demonizing inanimate objects which can neither think or act on their own, perhaps your organization should focus on fostering an environment which promotes compromise, tolerance, and respect by hiring people who CAN think and act on their own without the hostility and cowardice displayed by Mr. Riley.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Have a pleasant day.
Sincerely,
John P Zarnowski
PA resident and law-abiding gun owner.

In comments, he stated it’s OK to hate gays and womens rights activists because the majority of people do. That, and because I don’t support going and violently assaulting sex offenders, I must be one.

Hey, don’t forget my new blog on Mike S. “Vermin” Adams: http://mikeadamsisversmin.blogspot.com/.
Bring whatever you got, slugs. Rational people (that is, those who can actually read) can see pretty quickly what all the stuff I’ve written is actually about. Spin it all you like, only jerks like you will fail to see the truth.
Let me know if there’s anything from the old blogs you’d like to post and I’ll send it along. For the record, I pulled it all down b/c I was tired of getting death threats from you guys. Then Mike “Vermin” Adams did his hit job on me and I said “OK, it’s on again!” So let me repeat myself: B…R…I…N…G…I…T, knuckeheads.
In fact, you’re so stupid as not to realize something essential in all of this–my positions on homosexual marriage (I do not support it, and I do not support education about homosexuality in early public school that morally equates it with heterosexuality, although I really don’t care what gay people do in their private lives so long as they do it with consenting adults), radical feminism in the academy and elsewhere, and child sexual predators are RIGHT IN LINE with those of many Republican, NRA-member elected officials. In other words, I have the credentials to show them that, despite what reactionary dorks like you constantly spew, not everyone on the other side of the gun issue is a “communist.” The reality of politics is more complex, and only a few basically stupid people (i.e., you) adhere to boilerplate positions.
You are losing, dorks. And you will lose. A safer America is coming, whether you like it or not. Get ready to retreat into your bunkers–hope you’ve stored up plenty of canned goods.
December 21st, 2007 at 2:28 pm
So Mr. Riley is saying a safer America is one where we will all have to “Get ready to retreat into your bunkers–hope you’ve stored up plenty of canned goods” ???
Fine logic there friend.

We’re “losing”? Three anti-gun bills go down in flames in PA, a bill effectively written by the NRA passes congress and the Brady Bunch are so desperate for attention they try an claim credit, 60% of the population supports the rights of the individual.
And you call us stupid.
December 21st, 2007 at 2:36 pm
Interestingly, Riley’s link is to a site without comments. Guess he doesn’t want to truly argue anything. He just wishes to pontificate.
December 21st, 2007 at 2:43 pm
No, I believe what Mr Riley is saying is that CeaseRights PA is working toward abolishing “gun free zones.” That is the only remedy I can think of which would start to promote a “safer America.”
Oh yeah, and all Republicans promote violence toward sexual predators. Got it.

Poor Alex is losing it. Thanks for stopping by. Like Bryan Miller, you make our case for us.
We already did.
I nor no one here ever threatened you. If they did, provide proof.
It’s already here.
No, we’re winning.
December 21st, 2007 at 6:02 pm
If that is what passes for professorship at Bucknell, I’ll be sure to send my son elsewhere.
Alex, calling more names louder doesn’t mean you win.
December 21st, 2007 at 11:48 pm
Huh. When I click on the link provided by our esteemed “professor”, Blogger gives me a 404 error.
I think Rustmeister stole the words right out of my mouth… If this indivdual is representative of the institution which provided him his PhD, I will go out of my way to ensure no one I know or am related to goes there. Furthermore, if this individual is the among best CeaseFire PA can offer (which would make sense, since he is now on its board of directors), they really are doomed.
Name-calling, ad hominem attacks, and childish bigotry may make you seem big in your own eyes and the eyes of your cronies, but they surely do expose the kind of man you are.

Looks like his meds took hold again. Seriously I think he had a frekopsychotic (no it’s not a word) episode. He deleted it all now so when Mike A. rebuts to the vitriol he can say it never happened.
Coward punk pseudo-intellectual looser.
December 22nd, 2007 at 10:13 am
No, it’s still there. I want it to stay there so it will always be representative of the mindset of anti-gunners.
December 22nd, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Wow, wotta man…. Not. Y’know, he makes the most-blinkered gender feminism look good. If all men were like him, I’d join a convent. A real vox pop., vox Dei type.
Around here, you find something like that in your beer, you set it aside and get another tankard. It’s no use messin’ with it. Might be carryin’ a disease. Hoplophobia an’ bigotry is a dangerous combination.
December 22nd, 2007 at 7:38 pm
Has anybody made contact with the local press in PA? Isn’t this something they would like to do a piece on, unless you believe they’re willing to give him a pass as long as he’s anti-gun?
December 22nd, 2007 at 8:02 pm
I’d lay 10 to 1.
December 26th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
On Ceasefire PA’s website, I couldn’t find an email address–could someone provide it?

Thank you Alex! I always appreciate it when someone goes the extra mile to show off what a loser he is. It eliminates guesswork.
Man, CeaseFire PA must have been hurting for someone to fill their staff if they hired Alexander Riley to fill it out. That could acually be a good thing for the pro-rights side since as soon as Riley opens his pie hole he’ll shoot down any gains CeaseFire PA may have made. Ceasefire’s reputation sure aint going to get any higher.
