Illegal Gambling Tomorrow?
Tomorrow, there is a bass tournament held by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office to benefit D.A.R.E. Seems to me that under Tennessee’s gambling statutes, this would be illegal.

Fishing is a “Skill”

So is poker and blackjack.
And getting the biggest or the most fish is gambling and not skill, which is what the payout in these tourneys is based on.

lotteries and the like are used all the time to raise money for worthwhile non-profit causes. I know there is something better to rant about.

Bass Tournament isn’t really a lottery. You aren’t given a ticket and told you might or might not win some money back on it.
It is more akin to poker or any card game. You pay into the pot to play in the game (in this case fishing) and the winner is determined by who can fish out (literally in this case) the best (biggest) hand (fish).
The only benefit here is that you can draw in as many fish as you want (as long as you don’t keep ’em all, I imagine.
