Kansas NFA bill signed by governor
My sources tell me that Kansas is soon to be friendly to machine gunners.
Update: News source:
Starting July 1, Kansans will be able to own machine guns, other fully automatic weapons, sawed-off shotguns and silencers.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius signed a bill Monday legalizing their possession.

Sounds like the bill basically says that Federal restrictions are enough, why duplicate – and vastly extend – them, or spend the money on such duplication.
Uh, “sawed-off shotguns?” After the [ridiculous] Miller ruling?
Meanwhile, in Australia, laser pointers are beimg targeted. Not entirely a terrible idea: last year some eedjut claimed he was just pointing out stars to his daughter, and it was sheer coincidence that he managed to focus on three passenger-jet cockpits. Alas, pols in Oz can e even sillier than ours – the proposed licensing/ban covers ALL laser pointers, so those company presenters and schoolteachers will have to go back to the old pointy stick.

Bizarre. Not that it’s a big deal, but I didn’t picture Sebelius signing anything remotely pro-gun.

I was gonna say, after vetoing a CCW bill and having her veto thumped wholesale…who knows maybe she learned her lesson? Reelection coming soon? She has national aspirations, maybe she’s seeing what a pain being anti gun is for Barack Nobody Knows My Name Obama and Hillary.

Her term as governor isn’t up until 2010, but she isn’t eligible for reelection (2 term limit). She is probably looking for a national position. There have even been a number of rumors about being Obama’s VP.

I predict that ammo sales to the new squirt gun owners will skyrocket 😀
Now possibly moving to Kansas does not sound so bad 😀

According to the fine folks at http://www.ksccw.com she signed because both bills passed with margins large enough to be veto proof even if she did peel off a few votes.
So yeah, she (apparently) decided the symbolism of getting overridden again outweighed the symbolism of ‘taking a stand against guns’.

(don’t you hate it when you see an error (forum style tags in this case) while waiting for your click of the ‘submit’ button to take effect?)

You could just highlight the text and hit the bold button.

Yeah, but then I either have to interrupt my typing or remember what I wanted to highlight. When you do it right it’s faster & easier (for me) to just type the tags as I go.
Nice to have to buttons for less common things though.
