Philly’s Gun Problems

A police officer was killed in Philly by a murderous bastard with an SKS recently. Philly has a ton of crime and murder and, gosh darnit, they can’t pass any gun laws because of preemption. They seem to think those would help. After many years, it looks like somebody in the press may have actually read my site because this exchange occured:

Police commissioner Charles Ramsey became incensed at the news conference when a reporter asked if, in fact, the weapon that killed Sgt. Liczbinski might not be covered by an assault weapon ban:

“Let me just say this — if it’s not an assault weapon by definition, then add it to the frickin’ list. Add it to the frickin’ list! We don’t need it.”

Hats off to the reporter who asked. And if there’s ever a frickin’ list, they’ll eventually add everything to it.

Meanwhile, Mayor Nutty is harder on NRA members than he is a low-life murderers. Nice.

AAAAH, they got to me too!

    better?

Ah, the media spin. Another story covered only by the New York Times shows perhaps violations of the Bush administrations attempt to push pro war propaganda to the American people. All presidents have sued the media, but never put a military program together specifically to spread propaganda to citizens of this country. You will not see this on Fox, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, or ABC as they are all implicated in the 8,000 page document obtained through the freedom of information act. It is only fair to let people know that when they listen to the establishment, do not expect to get the truth. Liberty, Truth, and the American way!!

I’ve read elsewhere that this particular weapon had been modified to use a removable magazine and had a folding stock. Does anyone know for sure?

Markie Marxist sez: “Of course. Our Marxist/warrior/hero/criminals are blameless. We practically own the media, so not surprisingly they tend to portray things the way we’d like to see them portrayed.
Mayor Nutter blames the NRA, but correctly finds one of our cop killers to be merely disappointing. (I’m disappointed as well; he got caught!) Did I mention that we own Philly too?”

The Philly papers have been running photos of PPD photo ops showing the SKS having a Tapco(?) folding stock and detachable magazine.

Example: see photo at this story link – http://www.philly.com/inquirer/world_us/18794639.html

The Philly Inquirer story that I linked has this tidbit:

The SKS is a semiautomatic rifle, although it can be converted with simple hand tools to a fully automatic submachine gun.

    Who knew?!

Hmm. I’m thinking the gun referred to is the SKS45 which fires a 7.62×39 round which I believe disqualifies it from the definition of “submachine gun.” That round is considered a medium powered round and submachine guns fire low powered rounds generally of the class used in pistols.

I believe the SKS41 fired the 7.62×25 round, but that isn’t the one we all commonly own. I’ve never seen one.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
