Blackberry Bleg
Looking for an application to view and edit MS Office documents. There’s a lot of them and they’re spendy. Before buying one, I thought I’d get opinions on what you folks recommend.

If you have a Blackberry 8830, you might want to wait until the end of September to buy software. That’s when version 4.5 of the OS is supposed to be released, with some improved document viewing capabilities; and I believe the upgrade is free.

There’s always OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) which is free…never used it personally but I’ve never heard any negative buzz. Supported on almost any platform and the file compatibility is pretty good…check out TechRepublic’s review on it (http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-5083657.html?tag=sc) and see if any of the known issues would be problematic for you.

James, open office doesn’t appear to have a mobile version.

Funny… I recommend against Windows-based PDA phones. I believe it was Yoda who said, “Bloated pieces of shit, they are.”

Uncle,
Try this program Documents to go from Dataviz.
I’ve been using a version on my Palm PDA for years. It works will.
Here is the link for your platform

I concur with Bob S. Documents to Go is working well on my PDA, and on 35 or so we gave to the Docs at the hospital where I work.
