Remember when the Democrats were the party of fiscal responsibility?
Me neither. But they talked the talk when they were out of power. Any way, remember Bush’s record deficits? Ain’t seen nothing yet.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

What’s funny is all the talking heads in the pro W crowd crowed constantly that deficits were no big deal and what could possibly go wrong? Wonder if they’re changing their tunes…
We’re pretty well fucked.

I thought Clinton did a decent job. Paid down some debt, came in with budget deficits, left with surpluses, lowered government spending as a proportion of GDP, reduced federal income taxes (as a portion of income) for most American families.
Clinton cared enough about debt and deficits to do something about it. Bush didn’t even pretend to care. There’s no comparison in my book.

Clinton totally had Bush beat on fiscal conservatism.

So, Obama wants to run deficits several times larger than anything from Reagan or either Bushes, and there’s nothing wrong with that, and besides it’s still all the Republican’s fault? Okaaay.
Let me know when you Democrats learn the meaning of the word “responsiblity”.
And Clinton didn’t get religion on deficits until after the Republican Congress forced his hand. The deficits for his first two budgets were bigger than the last deficits from Bush Sr. He didn’t balance the budget until the last half of his presidency.

Funny the standard lib responses are “Bush.” Never mind that what Obama doing now is well and beyond whatever Bush did. Although, if Bush did not cause 9-11 and manufacture two wars with the help of Fox News, I wonder if his deficits would be as bad as they were.
But I never got the idea that in order to dig ourselves out from Bush’s deficits, we have to dig ourselves lower by at least three times to get out. With Chinese shovels, of course.

Dan,
That’s kinda like asking what water would be like if it wasn’t wet. What a ludicrous question–Bush manufactured those wars because it was his nature. You’re basically asking whether he’d have been tighter with the purse strings if he wasn’t so darn loose with them.
