My man-crush on Ronnie Barret continues
First, he tells a few police agencies he won’t sell them his firearms because of their positions advocating gun control. Now, comes this:
Barrett Firearms Manufacturing will not be accepting the state-funded grant that was recently awarded for worker training, said Ronnie Barrett, the company’s owner.
AdvertisementGov. Phil Bredesen and Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley recently announced the awarding of $4,975 to Barrett Firearms Manufacturing.
As to why:
“Stimulus money doesn’t exist,” Barrett said. “That’s national debt that goes to our great-grandchilden, and I don’t want any part of it.”
He’s also been nominated to NRA’s board of directors.

he only declined the money after previously accepting it and being lambasted by local democrats.

“I laughed when I read the amount, $4,975 seriously what is that supposed to do?”–D2K
Well, in a nation of 300,000,000 if a million others did that, it would amount to $4,975,000,000. A pretty good chunk of change, but still not to much of dent in the $700,000,000,000 stimulus.
And from whence comes that money? Oh, it’s being printed by the Federal Reserve (which is neither) and then the banksters will charge us interest for the fiat money!!

Hell yeah! Ronnie for president!
If you possibly can, buy yourself a Barrett rifle. They’re great pieces.

Shiny.
If he only made cheaper hardware, I certainly would have one on order… but I understand why he does not.

Can he be president?

I suppose I should clarify my comment.
They were offering him such a small amount (relative to his business) that it has no real purpose as economic stimulus.
To me all it seems they were doing was offering a bribe using our money.

It’s like he came straight out of an Ayn Rand novel.

This is the kind of business to support … and I just did.
Barrett sells shirts, posters, etc through their web site. I just ordered a shirt and a poster and under special instructions included the note, “Your rifles are out of my budget for now – but thanks to Mr. Barrett for trying to protect our future by turning down the stimulus money. Keep fighting the good fight.”
If you have the means to do so, support them.

“Stimulus money doesn’t exist,” Barrett said. “That’s national debt that goes to our great-grandchilden, and I don’t want any part of it.”
I’ve never seen anyone state that so clearly. When is he going to run for president?

THEN WHY DID HE APPLY FOR THE GRANT IN THE FIRST PLACE THIS IS NOT A LOTTERY, HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO APPLY FOR THE GRANT.
April 25th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
that question was answered at the link.

You know, if Barrett would come out with a line of affordable products, or even accessories, I’ll bet he’d do brisk business from those who like supporting people who stand up the right thing.

Forget the NRA Board! Barrett 2012!
