This day in history
23 years ago today, a provision that was slipped into the Firearms Owners Protection Act banned the transfer of new machine guns to civilians.

Not to worry, all our problems can be solved with enforcement of existing gun control legislation!

“shall not be infringed.” — unless the federal government feels like infringing, then, all bets are off. Wait a minute, that last part wasn’t in the origional version was it? Mayor Daley and the City of Chicago have a total ban on handguns and you know what, criminals don’t follow the law and are killing over 500 people each year in Chicago! But wait, handguns are BANNED in Chicago, how can that be?
Gun control is like trying to stop drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to buy cars. Unknown
Gun Control – A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun. Oldnoob
And from Thomas Jefferson:
“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

And no civilian has murdered anyone with a register machine gun since this law was passed!!!
Or, you know, before.

Actually, there are two murders I know of with an NFA registered machine gun. One was committed by a police officer and the other by a Doctor.

Notice the rights to a firearm of our citizenry were restricted with a bill entitled “Firearms Owners Protection Act”.
Orwell would be so proud of these National Socialists.
