I feel so sorry for her kids, raised in a dream world. They’ll be just as unwilling and unable to face reality as their mother is. But hey, how nice that she’s all empowered and crap.
I wouldn’t want to be a child in a home with parents who wouldn’t be willing to get their hands a little dirty with GSR in order to defend my life, my health, my innocence. Luckily, I didn’t have to be that child. And my child isn’t going to be, either.
I can’t talk about hippies without getting sick, so I guess we’re even.
On the plus side, at least hippies aren’t inanimate objects, and being notionally volitional entities, are at least partially to blame for their own decisions and beliefs.
I pity the poor woman and her kids. Sticking your head in the sand and ignoring stuff is not much of a rational approach to solving anything. When my kids were smaller I played rough with them. It was so horrible that sometimes we got to laughing so hard that our sides hurt. I try to do the same with my grandsons age 4 & 7 but I’m scared if we play too rough now I’ll get hurt. According to this gal this is violence but not so. It’s a start at teaching them to stand up for themselves even in a pillow fight. The more I write the more perturbed I get. She makes me sick! Sooner or later her kids are going to have to go out into the real world where everything is not sweetness and light. There are bad people out there and her kids need to taught to care for themselves – not crouch down and whimper in fear. BAH got a bad taste in my mouth. It’s George Dickel time.
Many of the commenters are Canadian, not realizing the irony that the US has protected them for decades. With guns.
The rest need to be marched there, “trail of tears”-style. if you want to add to the thousands and thousands of gun laws and take away my human rights, then you have to fucking go. sorry, but these are the breaks.
Well, amusingly, her Reasoned Discourse has not squelched the debate, but instead spread it over the entire Cortex, diaspora-style. If she did not want exposure before, just wait until tomorrow…
At any rate, the comment I would have left can be found here. If there is one thing I “fear”, it is a country run by people like her… and we are almost there.
It’s telling just how far we have sunk when we, as a species, have parents who proudly proclaim they would not effectively protect their offspring because of an irrational fear.

Ah, now she’s sad for me!

Uh oh. Looks like Reasoned Discourse has broken out. Comments are disabled.

Well, we can’t let any bad things in that get in the way of our feelings, now can we?

I like how she lists the violence in her neighborhood and then a couple of paragraphs later pooh-poohs people who think their family needs defending.

That post almost calls for another set of icons…

I would have loved to argue against some of her points. But she ended them with PERIOD, so they must be 100% true.

The illusion of empowerment is powerful among the illusion-based community. By ending comments she double-empowered herself!

Many pro-gun advocates argue that carrying a weapon can ensure ones safety.
Really? Because if that’s true, I’d like one of those weapons. The ones I have don’t ensure my safety, but they sure do improve the odds.

Sheep have no use for fangs and claws. But they become acquainted with them anyway.
