C’mon. Anybody who thinks the Internet (by which I mean the electronically connected switched nodes and such) hasn’t always been one or two flips of switches away from no worky by command is fooling themselves.
As for javascript, while only around since 1995 or so, it’s was originally written in C (have they bootstrapped it yet?) and is nothing but a wrapper thereof, so I am off by 3 years (1972). 🙂
If this bill had been proposed when Ashcroft and the Rehnquisition were doing their thing, you’d have been shitting gold bricks and warning of fascism in our midst. Don’t even try and pretend otherwise.
I’ll add to what Tam said;
Attempting to control communication is what socialists do. It’s in their blood. It should never come as a surprise to anyone. Who is it that’s been bitching about bloggers “in their pajamas” and the like, while losing ratings themselves? Who’s been trying six ways ’till Sunday to restrict talk radio after trying talk radio themselves and finding no one wants to listen to them? Who’s Senator wrote an intimidating letter to Rush Limbaugh’s syndication partner, trying to shut him up? Who’s Senators joined in to sign the same letter? Hmmm, Metulj? Would that be the conservative/libertarians or the Progressives/Marxists?
Let’s not beat around the bush, Metulj, the day the Internet is closed will probably be the day all the gun safes are opened, the day that Obama and the Pe-loser fear the most.
The Internet is not required to call out the militia, Paul Revere proved that.
But people like Unc here are the modern Paul Revere, I gotta say.
I wouldnt be surprised if after some big mistake by O that the net goes down for a bit, un-related of course. Can’t have all these “not-real-journalist” bloggers talking about it!

Java script has been around for 40 years? Did not know that. Al Gore must have been younger than I thought when he invented the interwebs.
