The Pistol that fired all on its own?

And why exactly are there Jennings pistols in Iraq?

Possibly it’s a fiendishly clever Rovian plot to arm Al Qaeda with unreliable weapons?

This whole story smells a bit. Bryco/Jennings guns are garbage, but going full auto; all by itself? IIRC, these guns don’t have slide locks, so apparently he reloaded and laid down a single action, striker fired automatic in battery(that’s IF you believe the story). IMO, setting down any loaded firearm at a range is a breach of range etiquette; much less putting the weapon down in battery. I suppose a sear failure combined with sensitive primers(read cheap ammo) could possibly result in this scenario. More likely, an amateur trigger job(reduced sear engagement) on an already questionable firearm was the culprit. Setting the gun down resulted in the first discharge and the rest were slam-fires; just my best guess.

The Iraq war trophy angle is just one more “say what?” point.

i doubt Hussein ever imported any Jennings products, so my best guess is a soldier brought it in-country as concealable protection because their C.O. wouldn’t issue M9’s.

assuming i’m right about that, the real question would be “why would any sensible GI think to bring it back?” toss the POS in the Tigris when your tour’s up, i’d say.

(WTF’s with this “duplicate comment” error? i must suck, because wordpress hates me.)

Sometimes, it’s caused by the proxy more than wordpress. And some times it’s because people double click the submit button.

  5. Diogenes Says:

Also, clicking the “back” button and answering “yes” to the question, “repost form data” will cause a double.

i think it’s partly because i post through Tor; that seems to make wordpress stop and think about me longer than my patience for waiting before clicking repost. i keep having the same issue on other wordpress blogs, too.

I could have sworn there was a recall on those for going full auto without action on the part of the user, but I can’t seem to find anything about it…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
