Courage Pardoned
The AP notes Obama pardoned a turkey:
Thanks to the intervention of Malia and Sasha, because I was planning to eat this sucker, Courage will also be spared this terrible and delicious fate.
You should have eaten it. Sparing the turkey sends the wrong message to our enemies.

Done. What’s your point? This has been going on for 20 years, since the time of Bush Senior. It’s nothing but a bit of stupid pomp that the executive puts on, nothing more. It doesn’t galvanize our enemies by making us appear weak; it’s just a stupid tradition. Yeah, I guess it’s a waste of tax dollars, but compared to the real waste our government does, it’s a drop in the bucket.
How about we not get our panties in a twist over a dumb PR stunt that’s been going on for decades, and focus on things that actually matter, like the impending government takeover of healthcare?

Professional courtesy this year: One turkey pardoning another.

Hey, I think that’s pretty cool. Peta is probably fuming.

Or maybe, just maybe, this recurring theme that Uncle does is a just a long running joke.
“With his bare hands, while wearing a loin cloth”
You can read this and then actually take it seriously? Are you that new to the concept of humor?

someone forgot to take their ‘sense of humor’ pills.

Courage? What a misnomer for a turkey seeking clemency. Now were the turkey petitioning Sarah Palin, that would take courage.
In other news, the tofurky hasn’t got a chance. Neither, oddly enough does Stands Next to Courage.

Did he remember to bow to it, and then apologize on behalf of the US for our treatment of turkeys?

Whoa, did I come off snippy?
Im only hearing one person with bunched pantys.
Eat the bird, Im sure it was a good/funny joke 100 years ago

Walter, your panties called …. you left them twisted up in the restroom. You need to click the link and see that Uncle is an equal opportunity critic.

Ill Voter, now that is funny. I saved three jobs just reading your comment.

That’s awesome, you think sometime in his busy day, Obama could find time to pardon the Navy SEAL heroes that caught the Fallujah terrorists from charges of punching a terrorist in the mouth?
Sorry, I guess the President has his priorities and the rest of America has theirs…

I’m no Obama-phile, but give him credit for having a sense of humor on this one. He mentioned that by this act, at least 4 turkeys had been saved or created.

Right Wing Hero GWB would have pardoned eight turkeys in his time in office. It’s something that goes back a ways. Somehow the National Turkey Federation got the White House to go along with it. My wife’s classmate from Texas Tech is a top PR guy with the NTF and does the pardons every year as part of his job.
