New Fun Droid App
Google Goggles. Snap a picture of an object and it will search the web based on the pic. It has, thus far, been surprisingly accurate. I googled up two books based on a pic of the cover. Then, I snapped a photo of my EeePC. And Google went to Google’s home page because that was the webpage that was up on the screen. Impressive.
Update: A reader asked, so I snapped a photo of the Kel-Tec with LaserGrips. No matches found.

I like google goggles, but, like the barcode scanner, have found it works great for books and *@#$ all for much else. Still, a neat app.
My current OMGWTFBBQ app is OurGroceries.

Tried it with a Para Carry. No luck. It seems to want to use logos and/or the text and it was having trouble reading the “Para Carry” on the slide due to the stainless and the poor lighting in my office. Tried the Para logo on the grips as well, still no go.
Maybe it’d work if I had better lighting and held the camera just right, but I didn’t spend a lot of time messing with it.
I was trying it with my pager the other day and it read the address on the paper *under* the pager and displayed that. Kind of creepy at first. 🙂
WRT Android apps… the one that has the biggest Wow! factor with people I’ve shown it to has got to be Google Sky Map.
