Cover Songs: FNM
I’ve been remiss in my music posts so I’ll post a couple of cover songs. First, is Faith No More. They always seem to get one good cover on most of their albums. Mike Patton is, truly, one of the greatest vocalists of all time. He can do any style of music, from thrash to death metal. Opera to folk. Goofy to rock. Rap to pop. He can do the Bee Gees:
He can do Lionel Richie:
And, in his natural environment of rock, he rocks:

Can he do Mozart? No, didn’t think so. I miss Western Civilization.

Yeah, because incongruity with one guy’s tastes means the end of civilization.

Oh, I dunno, the Requiem, The Magic Flute, Idomeneo, The Abduction from the Seraglio, et further cetera.
Kids, these days.
Besides, vocal music is what guys sing among themselves while standing around the piano and drinking. Listening to other people do that just doesn’t do much for me, most ‘specially if it’s the recently commercially popular type.
I will listen to Hank Williams, Sr., but almost all rock and roll? Needs more canister.

P.s. Sorry, not the Requiem, I mean the copy of the secret song sung in the Vatican which he memorized.

Mike Patton is one of the most underrated singers out there. On his list of works, FNM ranks lowest with me.
Mr. Bungle showcases his talents as well as it took music to a new height. Not for most folks, tends to be more popular with musicians and counter-culture types. Got their first album in 1993, still listen to it regularly, even after 17 years, it doesn’t get old. Just way ahead of its time.
Nathanial Merriwether Presents Lovage is one of the best albums for couples to enjoy loving each other to.
But here’s one more FNM cover that was missed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-XzqcP79vQ
Mike Patton naysayers are dismissed due to their ignorance. Take your classical elitism and shove it up your Beethoven. (I love classical music myself, but anyone who listens to limited types of music are narrow minded IMNSHO, you are only depriving yourself of joy that you could have had. There is NO one best kind of music.)
