“It’s like he’s seeing their talking points in bullet time.”
That was one of the funniest segments I’ve seen in a long time on the DS. If you really want to see the smackdown that BO gave the GOP at that retreat, google it up, and watch the whole thing. (you’ll notice the lack of a teleprompter). Some of the questions asked made me feel embarrassed for the questioners. It also made me want a amendment forcing all future presidents to have to stand up 1/4ly and face this sort of stuff a la PM’s questions in Great Britain. Great theater, but also a place where substance can appear.

Obama spoke with Senate Dems yesterday: MSNBC cut away after he told people to stop watching CNN, Fox and MSNBC.

So he’s refusing to consider tort reform because he believes it’ll only help a little? Nice try, but that doesn’t fly. Should we be swayed by Obama’s economist-finding ability? I submit that this past year has shown otherwise. I also didn’t see any refutation of the GOP’s contention that Obama and the Dems had completely excluded them from the process for months and months.
So while I like to see my servants hashing things out in public, and hope to see more Question Times in the future, this wasn’t exactly dunking by Obama.

TARP was a (mandatory Orrin Boyle) loan; Stimulus is a grant. Figure that (now 75% repaid) into, or out of, last year’s deficit, and yon Great Debater’s figures go right to hell. I’m not seeing him make his “no worse than you” point on that one.
It’s ridiculous to get your news from Fox. Real intellectuals, of course, get theirs from Jon Stewart.

Real intellectuals get their news from multiple places. As in “Finding Forrester”, when the title character said:
“I read the Times for Breakfast, but [the National Enquirer] is my dessert.”

Get a droid 🙂
I don’t know of another version but try the comedy central page.

It’s on FB.
And he’s not refusing to consider it, he’s pointing out the simple truth that it’s not gonna fix the problem.

My favorite comment was that it was like watching baby seals being clubbed.

He does not say he won’t do tort reform, just that it is so marginal as to be diversionary.
