Clearly what that shows is the policies of the GOP cause higher unemployment. It just takes years for that unemployment to manifest. By that time, voters have realized what a terrible mistake they have made and replace those evil capitalists republicans with democrats. By the time democrats have fixed the mistakes of republicans, the voters have forgotten what a terrible idea it is to have people who want you to keep more of your own money republicans in office.
Look at similar charts for the stock market. Almost the exact same trend with the parties reversed. If you’re in the Blue Chips, you definitely want Dems in power if history is any guide. I remember learning about that when I got my series 7 back in the day…hilarious.
Everybody like dems when they campaign….once they are elected not so much. What I liked about the stats is the end and start points are the high points of a valley. To truly draw and conclusions we would need to see a larger period.

Which actually makes sense now that I think about it…payrolls shrink, and companies have more revenue to keep per share.

when payrolls shrink, it’s usually because sales are down. So that’s probably not it.
