The Tommy Gun is a fine piece of history, but it is very heavy for what it does, and the .45ACP is not a good carbine round, having poor ballistics past 100 yards.
If you’re in the Class 3 market, you can do much better, gun-wise.
Also, considering that the semi-auto one is of much less value (maybe a fifteenth of the value), that leaves the full-auto one at well over $20K, which might not even be a bargain for a collector.
I would go to J&G Sales, and look at their Valmet LMG (in 7.62 NATO) for $17K. If you buy that, and want something lighter, there are MAC-10s on the CL3 market for less than $7K, or perhaps an MP5 might work for you.
For your same $25K, you now have a proper full auto Battle Rifle/LMG, AND an adequate SMG in a better SMG round, 9mm Luger.
Your prices are way out of whack. A collectible Thompson (i.e. Colt 1921) will run over 20k, but original (though shooter-grade) 28A1/M1/M1A1 guns are usually in the upper teens. West Hurley guns sit if they’re more than 12k.
17k is high for a Valmet. Anyone who pays 7k for a Mac is a fool, straight up – market for those is 3k and less.
For 25k you can get a HB FAL and a Sterling, and have money left for ammo.
“No laser?” Well Uncle, it’s like this. Us western folks (Texans included) know what those potrusions on the top of the gun at the front and rear are for, and they work REAL good! Plus you dont need to replace batteries with them.
Lasers? We westerners dont need no stinking lasers! Lasers are for pilgrims! 🙂
