Firearms, particularly small caliber rounds, would not be as helpful as many people think, given that you have to shoot each zombie enough to render it physically incapable of functioning, rather than just killing it.
Shooting them in the head usually doesn’t work unless you do it enough to completely destroy the head. It’s not like a live person where a hole or two through the head will put them down.
I contend that for a Zombie to remain mobile, their physiology would need to be at least similar to all other advanced life forms, namely a functional central nervous system, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The level of function of these systems may be altered dramatically, but not stopped. There is no way a bacterial or viral infection or systemic mutation would change the basic mechanisms of the human body enough to render is immune to massive damage to the heart and lungs. As with humans, a shot to the CNS would be most effective, but anything that can kill a human would eventually kill a zombie. Also, everybody knows they’ll starve to death sooner or later, so it’s to sea I go!

Tip: Don’t wear garlic around your neck as it will only serve as seasoning in most cases.

Mmmm, garlic.
So . . . . . just where do those of us with more than 2 dozen firearms & 10,000+ rounds of ammo on hand fit on that chart?

Stormy Dragon – WTF? You shoot them in the head. Anything else is a waste of ammo.
