Mark your mags (unless they’re unmistakably distinctive) for the caliber and firearm they go with. I’ve started doing that with my pistol mags; so many look so similar. I’d hate to try to jam an XDM mag into the 92FS and be left high and dry during a firefight, or load a .40SW into a P12 (.45ACP) mag. Sharpies need to be refreshed periodically; maybe some scotch tape over it.
Ok Unk; It doesn’t matter how many magazines you have, as long as the magazines you have are totally reliable. If the mag chokes up your poodleshooter, it’s about as much good as a limp – – -, well you know.
Keep only KNOWN good mags. Known good means you’ve run a lot of rounds through them with NO failures. If you have 30 mags for your AR /AK / M1a./ and on and on, you just cannot shoot enough to be certain of their reliability.
Select 5 or 6 & PROVE them out. We both know that when the zombies come, if you can get off more than one or two mags, you’re doing well. If you are lucky and can get off more, then you should have trained the S/O or others to load good but well employed mags needing to be filled.
I have but 5 mags for each of my autoloaders. Each is totally reliable and proven.
21 mags……mmm, yea, thats a start. of coarse depends on how many weapons you hv to feed too. 30 is about right for one person/one weapon, but if you have multiples you should have a minimum of 30 per. I prefer Pmags, they are the new mil spec issue and in short order(probly 9-12mos) all of the metal mags will eventually be cycled out. I am speaking strictly for the AR or AK platforms and could be applied to any MBR type rifle..
I do not load my mags up before carbine class like the mall ninjas do (but they have to have time to muck with gear and their camel backs, 25 feet from water but the ninjas have to have camel backs). I load mine up with a few rounds and then from my pocket on the range.
I’ll stuff a max of 10 in the mags that way I get more practice reloading. It’s all about the manipulations, then it’s about the bling, bling.

You can’t tell if they’re empty. You’re looking at the bottoms.

Impressive. Very impressive.
Going to that carbine shoot, eh? You’re not going to be running around carrying all of them, are you?

Going to class? Why load them?
