Unpossible
A felon, who magically managed to get a gun despite being a felon, walked into a school (again, magically, because that’s illegal) and pointed a gun at people. Fortunately, the only one dead is the attempted gunman who was shot by someone who also had a gun at a school. Thank God he was here.
Another mass murder thwarted by someone with a gun.

Sorry, going to disagree with you slightly here. Mr. Crazypants couldn’t hit the ground if you tripled the gravitational pull under his feet. Maybe a ‘mass injury’, but far from ‘mass murder’.
December 15th, 2010 at 10:14 am
fortunately, we’ll never know.
December 15th, 2010 at 10:18 am
Robb, if you watch the video you will see that he did hit the ground once. π
Seriously, that damn thing would have ended many times over if one or more people were not gun free zoned out of their right to self defense.
And the Brady Bunch will still come out and use this as an example for stricter gun laws… Insane!
December 15th, 2010 at 10:27 am
And the one woman who didn’t want anyone to be a victim snuck back in the room and hit him with her purse.
December 15th, 2010 at 10:49 am
When you can’t even get suicide by cop to work, you got bigger problems than your aim.
December 15th, 2010 at 11:06 am
If this wasn’t a “Gun Free Zone” I doubt this would have even happened. The security guard walked in early in the encounter and nutball dismissed him as. “You probably dont even have a gun!”
Well he did. But you can only be lead to believe from the video the “gun free zone” was a huge factors in planning this fiasco.
December 15th, 2010 at 11:38 am
I think the big talking point being missed here is that this nut job left a suicide note railing against the rich…..
Obama’s class warfare did this! The left incited this extremist! The far left loons must be stopped before there is more violence and blood shed! If only there was a watch list we could put their names on!
… or something like that π

Well certainly Alan Moore’s. “V for Vendetta” (The symbol he sprayed on the wall) was hardly a comic that was sympathetic to the right.
IIRC Moore wrote it because he was disgusted where Margot Thatcher et al was taking England. He was concerned about a police state.
Ironic as hell now…

THIS IS THE PROPER RESPONSE TO SAVE LIVES–>
“call security chief and former School Board member Mike Jones,”who came running down and into the board room and then there were shots fired,”
281-330-8004.
December 15th, 2010 at 12:41 pm
“He was shot by former School Board member and district security chief Mike Jones who was not in the meeting but was alerted to the presence of a gunman. However, police now say that the killing shot came from Duke’s own gun.”
“He pulls out this gun that turned out to be a cap gun, I think, and he started talking to the school board and told everyone to clear the room except the men on the school board.
“Then Ginger Littleton, I think, swung her purse at him. Nobody knew it was a cap gun.”
So can you kill yourself with a cap gun???
December 15th, 2010 at 12:44 pm
Still, all in all, the gun man was shot by a gun that probably was outlawed in that situation as well.
That is why the retired police office was used to describe the security officer.
My suspicision is that is an end run around the fact that all guns are outlawed in that instantence.
December 15th, 2010 at 1:02 pm
It wasn’t a cap gun, that was just early hours speculation on how he managed to miss a stationary target at 8′
Go watch the video, you can see the rounds hitting. High right into the wall, and LOW left hitting the ground and the platform the board was on.
I suspect it was a “guns kill people” reporter who assumed that if somebody shoots at you with a handgun at close range you can’t miss.

And this is why in Texas we are pushing to allow CHL holders to be able to carry in schools!
‘Gun Free’ zones don’t make anything free. And felons can get guns, Brady Bill or not.

I posted it earlier today on my blog if you want to see it:

Officialdom despises free Americans being able to defend themselves which is why they impose “gun-free zones” and why you will hear or see NOTHING in the media, especially from the government, that today is Bill of Rights Day. Officialdom also hates the Bill of Rights.

I would say you stole title. However, it is said great minds think a like so I’ll let it slide.
This incident was so full of fail for the gun control crowd I could barely believe it.

I’ve been doing unpossible since before you were blogging.

Yeah and probably before I was born too… π

“So can you kill yourself with a cap gun???”
Yes, you can and you will be very dead.
Just ask Jon-Erik Hexum or Brandon Lee.
The Four Rules Always Apply.
December 15th, 2010 at 5:43 pm
I suspect he wasn’t missing by accident. He wanted to go out in a suicide by cop and if anything was trying to speed the process up.
The picture of the lady sneaking up behind him, him unaware, with her purse cocked back could be used as a pro-carry tool. She had a clear safe angle shot at the back of his head or chest. End of situation right there.

A few interesting observations in this unique recording of a real-world scenario that CCW holders can learn from:
1) After the first shot, notice how most board members are in shock at what just happened and just sit there waiting to be the next target.
2) The second shot appears unintentional…it is unaimed and he flinches when the gun goes off. I imagine the act of his first shot sent a surge of adrenaline through his body and he’s lost some of amount of motor control.
3) When the security guard begins firing, it appears the gunman doesn’t initially know that the guard’s gunfire is coming from behind him until he is hit what appears to be a second time. This is probably because his ears are ringing from his own shots and he’s unable to sense the direction.

Comment from a previous Gun-Free-Zone murder event. “Mass murderers aren’t deterred by the prospect of death. They expect to die. What deters them is the prospect of failure – being killed before they are finished. They don’t mind killing or dying, but the prospect of failing terrifies them. They want to be in control, so the prospect of being shot up just as they start trying to kill people is extremely discouraging to them. You’ll notice that they never attack gun shows or any other place where people are armed.”

Any details on the legality of Mr. Jones’ gun?
