Let it sink in. The government cannot make money in operations that are very successful at making money even when you include the high cost that comes with breaking the law. The .gov doesn’t have the high cost of breaking the law and still can’t make money. Remember that when someone says they want the government to run healthcare.

I don’t think that’s a fair statement. Donald Trump bankrupted a casino.
Furthermore, the high cost of breaking law is balanced out by the high cost of illegal goods. Marijuana would probably cost 10% of what it costs today if it was legal.

Even the government can’t screw up on Lotto, where effectively, the house odds (discounting previous weeks where the winning prize numbers were unsold) is 50%.
(Blackjack, for reference played using the “basic strategy”, the house odds are only 0.5 to 1%)
If I’m following the story correctly, more and more kids are qualifying for the $4000 scholarship than is being made in profit by Lotto, so they’re thinking about upping the standards.
Stacey Campfield is saying that if they could somehow find a qualified person to run the department for $50k/year they would have a shitload extra cash for scholarships .
