In hold ’em, five outs once is about 10%
School paper addresses dealing with a mass shooting: “Five OUTS” for Community Facing an On-Campus Active Shooter
I’ll stick with my 10+1 outs.

Trust me, after nearly 10 years fighting to get my Degree, the only safe place on a College Campus is the School’s Police Dept. There’s more Security at a Day Care than there is at most Universities.

5 Outs for dealing with an active shooter (anywhere):
1. Shoot him.
2. Wait until he’s done and shoots himself.
3. Wait until he runs out of ammo.
4. Wait until the cops show up and shoot him.
5. Wait until the cops show up and arrest him.

At Virginia Tech the Doors were chained so #1 wasn’t an option. Collin Goddard did 2-4 and got shot for his troubles (actually not sure if he barricaded the door to his class, I know another class did and they got shot too)
1, 4, and 5 are really the only useful ones there, and 5 would be a whole lot better if they didn’t disarm their teachers, students and staff….

10+1? I’ll stick with my full capacity mags thanks and offer up a 16+1 plan. I may get taken out but there will be a heap of brass around me. lol

yet another reason I’m sticking with internet classes unless and until I’m near a campus that allows carring.

Wait, did I read that correctly? The last step is:
TAKE OUT: Attempt to take out the shooter however you can.
Wow. I’ve never seen them recommend that before. It’s actually progress. Now they just need to move it up to #3 and I’d agree (since #1 – avoiding the fight and #2 – calling 911 – are logical enough).
