Oklahoma prohibits liquor sales on Mondays?

  2. Cayton Says:

It’s from 2010, when the fourth fell on a Sunday.

    Such a conspiracy… SARC!

  4. John Smith. Says:

Try this magical concept… Buy extra booze on July 3rd… Of course you have to have more than one brain cell to figure that out.

  5. SayUncle Says:

Or this magical concept ‘i should be able to buy booze whenever i choose and keep your religion out of our laws’

  6. John Smith. Says:

Oh really… How many all night liquor stores do you have in Knoxville????

  7. SayUncle Says:

None. And that should change. And we can’t buy on Sunday either.

  8. John Smith. Says:

It won’t… I lived in an area where the state controlled all the liquor stores… They were all closed on sunday and on state holidays… Nothing religious there. Just good old fashioned greed…

  9. Bubblehead Les Says:

This is a State’s Rights Issue. The State has the Right to Own the stores, impose High Taxes, set Minimum Pricing, control the Alcohol Content, prevent Lawful Gun Owners from Drinking in a Bar, tell you when you can purchase Booze…. Oh, I’m sorry. This story is about Oklahoma! I thought it was about Ohio! Never mind.

Back in the ’80s I moved to Texas, and my community had prohibitions on selling anything except basically food and gasoline before noon on Sunday.

I still fondly recall standing in line at the local grocery at 11:10 am or so one Sunday. The harried looking lady with a toddler on her hip in line in front of me had nothing to buy except a package of Pampers.

The teenage clerk started to tell her about the food-only law. With a look of madness in her eyes that any husband would recognize as EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, she quietly stated that the Pampers were indeed food, because if she could not buy them right then, the clerk was going to eat them.

The clerk accepted her payment, wished her a nice day, and the woman went on her way.

And that is how Blue Laws were handled in Texas, folks.

Oh, that is full of awesome.

  12. Jennifer Says:

So very true. Sigh. And this from my home state. The beer at the grocery store is limited to 3.2% alcohol too. You have to go to a liquor store for real beer. And they can’t chill it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
